O2 sensor removal

I was looking for some suggestions about how to remove the o2 sensor from the midpipe. I know alot of people count the number of turns that they use to take it out and use it as the same number to screw it in, but I was looking for something a little more precise. Does anyone know how to remove the carpet (cleanly) to unplug the harness or another method? Or is counting the number of turns an efficient way to approach this problem?

thanks for the help,
Ron

First of all, you're going to need a wrench. I think it's 22mm. I only had a crescent wrench, so that's what I used. I'm not sure what you mean by carpet (then again, my mechanic skills are fairly rudimentary). I just made sure the wire didn't tangle, and that I didn't over-tighten it when I reinstalled the 02 sensor.
