defi D series boost gauge help

tried installing the gauge and have the vacuum lines all hooked up. the problem is the illumination wiring.

i have my black wire grounded and tried splicing the white wire into the illumination (green/white) but the gauge isn't lighting up...any suggestions?

is that wire ignition? do i have to actually start the car or can i just put hte key in and half turn it?

thanks for the help in advancce!

If you're hooked up correctly, you don't need the key to get illumination. All I do is turn on my headlights and the gauges light up. Re-check your wiring and make sure your vampire taps are clamped the whole way down. Also make sure you didn't use one that was too big.
