Is This Realilistic
i was at a shop and the guy told me that a turbo back w/highflow cat, intercooler, intercooler pipeing, blow off valve and a reflash on the ecu would get me about 350hp to the wheels and high 11's in the 1/4 all for only $2,700. is this for real and what do you think of the price
I'd say not a chance with only just the mods you're listing. With an intercooler and IC pipes, I'd say you'd only gain about 20 whp max. BOV will do nothing but hold your boost. and without a MBC it's useless as the stock one holds fine at stock levels. Did you forget to list some things?
And for 2,700... you can get a HKS 30th anniversary for 600, HKS downpipe for 300, test pipe from UR or whatever for 100, HKS intercooler for 1,000 (comes with all piping except upper) and HKS SSQV for 400 with upper ic piping. Custom tune for 400. That's a total of 2,800 w/ arguably some of the best performance parts out there. Buy the stuff yourself.

To get 350whp, you need:
TBE (test pipe; not HF cat) - 800
Cams - 600
MBC/gauge - 175
Tuning device (piggyback, standalone, or CUSTOM flash) - 400
BOV (hold the increased boost) - 120-300
Fuel pump - 85
That's about 2300 + whatever installs you'd need to pay for. So, in the end, you would probably pay $2700 or more for 350whp, but this is with more parts, though the proper parts.
FMIC and IC piping are both a big waste of money (as early mods) and will not give a significant gain in WHP with the stock turbo. If you have the above mods, you would then go with injectors, FMIC, IC piping, tubular manifold, O2 housing, alky kit, etc., but a lot of those are best when combined with a larger turbo.
Btw, 350whp would get you high 11s with good driving, so that part was right.

im going to start by saying im not trying to be a dick, and i sure as hell dont know anything when it comes to evos yet, but the best thing you can do is read everything you can on this forum and others until you get an idea as to what will best acomplish your goals. do yourself a favor and stay away from any tuning shop until you know what youre looking for, that way when you go back not only are you informed, but you wont get ripped off. you did the right thing by coming on here and asking people's educated opinions before you went out and actually did anything so youre on the right track. this is my sports car and first import too ( had 2 jeeps) so im in the same boat as you. read up and then make your move, youll be much happier. good luck
If you wanna be informed, listen to what Wartalon was saying in his post.
I know he sounds like a know-it-all , but he is dead on in his statement about mod sequence and price estimates. If your looking for 350hp on a dynojet, those are the mods you need. If you can do some of the work yourself and find good deals you'll be able to shave quit a bit off the prices.
