webguy330i - I've read most all your posts on the topic and I have to say you are a hero to take up the good fight for yourself and all Mash-up-bishi owners.

Thanks for hanging in there! Great job!

Let me see if I get this right, you modded your car with aftermarket products and then something goes wrong with it and you want mitsu to warranty it? You put everything back to stock and expect them to have to honor the warranty just because it's back to stock? I don't get your reasoning. Modifying your vehicle comes with risks and trade-offs that we all must take into consideration. Losing the warranty is one of them. You can't blindly modify your car and expect there to not be any consequences in doing so. You can't honestly blame mitsubishi for doing what they're doing can you? I'm sorry but there are a lot of stupid kids out there that are giving mature evo owners and the evo itself a bad reputation.(not implying you) Not everyone that owns an evo wants to race it all the time and I'm one of them. I've always admired the evo for it's performance and styling and not because I can race everything with 4 wheels on the road and probably beat them. It's kind of sad to see so many young evo drivers f'ing things up for the mature people like me. I can see it now, one of these days some young punk is gonna pull up next to me when I'm doing 85 on the freeway and a cop will see us and think we're racing and we both get our cars impounded. I wish parents would stop buying their spoiled kids nice cars like the evo . The streets would be much safer, insurance rates lower, and cops wouldn't harras innocent hobbyists. Sorry bro but I can't honestly have sympathy for your case. I know i'll get flamed for my opinion but I simply had to to say it. Most evo owners here are f'ing things up for all of us in one way or another.

My thoughts exactly. A generation of spoiled kids. The entitlement generation which has tainted this cars reputation. How much did this lawyer cost ( who apparently did'nt even consider that the case might be thrown out of a California court) and how much was the settlement? You modify the crap out of a car, change the engineering dynamics and complain when it goes wrong. The real world is waiting for you.

+1 I emphatize with the outcome of the case but if you really mod your car, be ready to pay it out of warranty. welcome back and hope that you have save enough to mod it further.

I agree to a point. there is the story about the guy that puts a gtseries turbo on the car with a exedy carbon clutch and *****es because the transfer case blows up. a perfect case of "you mod it, you pay for it". the p0300 code should not have anything to do with the mods and I have seen/heard issues of stock cars getting the code as well. this is a case of the dealer/mmna not owning up to a problem with the car that can probably be determined to not be related to the mods. I had a ton of mods on my car and had the 2 front tires wear out at 4k. should my warranty have been denied due to mods....no... I ended up getting 2 new front tires. the dealership found out by aligning the car that it had been out since day one(they say from the straps that secure it in transport). took a few calls to mmna, but they paid, and should have.

need to be careful "blanketing" all people trying to get warranty claims into the category as young punk scammers....

btw, your statement about doing 85 on the freeway is above the posted speed limit and you should be looked at by the cops...

pot calling the kettle black?????

Are you guys serious? He isn't *****ing about busting up his transmission, he's complaining about an OBVIOUS issue with STOCK Evos. The mods he had, could not (SEE: IN NO DAMN WAY) cause a misfire in his motor. Give me a break.

Its not as if this guy has a full-fledged race car. He put an intake, exhaust, and DIFFERENT DV on the car...and it has a MISFIRE..the same one that tons of STOCK evos have. I guess you follow the same reasoning some mitsu dealers do....I suppose a set of 18x8.5" wheels makes drastic changes to the drivetrain and therefore justifies voiding a powertrain warranty....am i right?

Umm. An exhaust system or intake affecting EGT's, sensors, MAF couldn't cause an uncorrectable cel code huh? Yeah ok.

Most buyers won't ever go this far...... What happens is.... you threaten with a lemon law and they say F-it we'll give you a kick **** deal on another car. You see once a car is marked lemon it cannot be resold but if you instead trade the car in then it can be resold. Once a car is used it no longer is covered by the lemon law so the next poor buyer that gets that car is screwed.

My pops works at a dealer and he claims they have never marked a car a lemon. They simply attempt to make the customer a deal they cannot pass on and then resell the car.

Dealerships are dirty.
