I just got a call, they told me the Evo will be in showroom tomorrow (3/3/03) , they just received the car right now. They told me precisely at 2:00 i can go see it. For those who live in the bay area, its going to be in the San Mateo Veracom Mitsubishi. I believe other dealerships around here, Serramonte will get it this week also! Dont know about you guys, but imma check it out first thing i get out of school tomorrow.

Take along a sign just in case they are going to ask something stupid like 10K over MSRP. If they are, then you are all set. Stand outside the dealership and picket with your sign!

How about a sign that says...

When you buy Japanese cars you support Karaoke! Buy American

That will get their attention!!

I went to Veracom today after work, and indeed the car is there. It's Silver/No sunroof/Big wing ,and they are asking ONLY $45,800 for it.

Just seeing how much the local dealers are marking the Evo up for just kinda turned me off to the car really. Dont get me wrong, it's a pretty cool car in the flesh. But after seeing the car and looking at it for awhile, my initial hype has cooled a bit and i have no problem waiting awhile, even 'till the end of the year.

 

Looksl ike we dont have a choice but to wait since we're getting gouged so much. As I said in another thread, it makes us MSRP guys look like idiots when you've got doctors, lawyers, and rich dads buying the car with an open checkbook in hand. It makes our point kind of hard to prove....of trying to show dealers we dont like this crap. People are still buying them at $40 - $50 K

 

Well, there will allways be people willing to pay any amount to say "hey, look at me, i have the first one!! Boy, im cool !!!".

I've never been that way, and i can wait a long time if needed. I mean, i could buy the Evo outright if i really wanted to, but i wont give these dealers the satisfaction.

Also, at the $45k level, alot of really cool cars start coming into view. For around $30k, the Evo is definitely at the head of its class. But not when it gets near $50k.........
