1) Daily self-tuning capability for any change in mods, temp, humidity, octane, and/or boost.
2) Inexpensive
3a) Does not touch the factory ECU, so it cannot be detected by the dealer in any
3b) Can be uninstalled/reinstalled within minutes
4) Does not require removal and mailing of the ECU
Con's
1) Requires splicing/soldering of S-AFC wires to either the ECU wires or a Fields harness - *NEW* The S-AFC can be bought pre-spliced to a harness now
2) Only works by "fooling" the ECU into thinking more or less air is flowing, thus artificially affecting the AFRs.
3) Only affects timing INDIRECTLY through the AFRs and knock. Only base timing maps can be used thusly
4) Due to the factory ECU tune that causes Evos to run lean before 5000 rpm, timing is near 0 at peak torque, which causes torque numbers to be noticeably lower. To get the AFRs under 12 from 3500-5000, you have to add a little fuel, which only affects timing NEGATIVELY
