Pretty loud valves. I just thougth the tolerence on the evo would be better than the 1-2g eclipse 4G63's

That just give me more reason to break it in properly.

 

I am pleasantly surprised with the exhaust note, it's far less harsh then I expected. I for one generally don't like the way turbo 4s sound, but this is better then most. It still doesn't sound as nice as a DOHC V8 or Porshe flat-6, but not to bad... I am getting more excited to get my Evo!

a: the valves probably sound worse on the video than in real life. I know my Corrado's engine always sounds like someone shaking a box of bolts on camcorder audio, but it doesn't sound nearly as bad IRL. The treble is accented and the bass muted.

b: I love how it's a proper engine, none of these plastic covers and surrounds

c: the idle is quiet because of the variable exhaust thing, the valve that opens under pressure (trick!)

 

What the hell I thought he was gonna take off like a bat out of hell or something.

The valves arent nearly that loud in person....I actually couldnt even hear it. I got a ride in one today, got to inspect it while it was running. All you could hear was the engine humming and the exhaust purring.. The car is suprisingly quiet when idling. It sounds great whele driving....you can hear the technology heheh.

 

yeah it is a bit like a porno with that stick shift but hey what the hell it was nice that they made the movie

I would guess the valves sound like that on the video because the mic is sensitive to that particular spectrum. ever watch car and driver or motor week? the engine shot usually sounds like crap. lately they've fixed somewhat but the valve noise is much lounder on tape then in real life.
