This week was good and bad.
This week was good and bad.
The good part was Tuesday, when RacerJon from the AMS Evo One Lap of America car (remember the video at Indiannapolis Raceway Park where he loses the ABS at 157 MPH?) drove my car in a local autocross. Whoeee! He was flying in some places that I was going at a sedate pace. After watching him drive, I realize that I make the mistake of overdriving the slow parts and underdriving the fast ones. Something to work on in the coming months.
The bad part is that after 15,000 mountain miles and 60+ launches, my clutch is toast. Time to make the age old decision of whether to upgrade or not...

The thing that feels good is that Jon is driving a Subaru in our club, but secretly wants to get back in an Evo. Once the clutch is in, I may offer him a co-driver position!
The bad thing is, one of the best drivers in the club has an STi and drives against me in A Stock. I have resisted the temptation to slide over to ESP or STU to avoid him. He co-drove my car at an earlier event and set Fastest Time of the Day. I learned a lot from him.
The clutch was inevitable. My last Mitsu clutch only lasted 30,000 miles in the flat lands- but that was 20 years ago, and with 160 less HP.
