New Evo Owner - Help me thru my remorse!

I've been talking to two different dealers over the last two days. Had great experiences at both places. One place (dealer A) had one on the ground, prepped today and ready for me, the other place (dealer B) was closer to my house, expecting my silver one tonight or tomorrow. All things in the deal were pretty equal.

Dealer A charged for Vin etching at $295 and I was told they hit you with another office processing fee for a couple hundred. Ultimately making dealer B about $200 cheaper, no big deal, but I went with Dealer B because he had been real straight forward with me from the get go and is giving me his cost on the window tint. So, I should get my Silver Evo tomorrow.

Now, the part that made me wonder if I should have waited...I called the other dealer out of courtesy to let them know I wouldn't be by and to thank them for their help last night, but I had decided to buy the car elsewhere. As I pull out of the lot after putting down my $500 deposit, Dealer A calls back and says they'd give me another $1000 for my trade to try and earn my business.

Puts a bit of a damper on my spirits, but I guess ultimately, we're talking about a different of a couple hundred bucks when it's all said and done. I still got $1,100 more than I've ever been offered for my trade...and I got a bad little car at 0% for 60 months.

Guess I should be down emptying out my Passat and getting ready for the new wheels in the garage.

buying a new car is an emotional experience, so i would not sweat the details...you shopped and got a deal you were happy with, so be happy...alot of times dealers will tell you those kind of things on the phone just to keep you talking to them so they are stlil in the game, because they know once you have shut the door on their deal, they have no chance...

This kind of thing happened to me once I had two dealers haggling to get my business, after I chose one the other was saying things like oh we could have done better etc.. Its all good, though I still got a fantastic deal so I was happy with it
Sounds like you got a great deal here as well and it sounds like the dealer was a good guy too. So just think about how much fun you will be having in your new Evo soon

I wouldn't sweat it ... after you've spent a couple of hours behind the wheel (and a couple dozen on/off ramps later), you should forget all about it.

If you were really shrewd you'd ask Dealer B to counter the counteroffer. You might be able to squeeze $500 to $750 out of it.

Yeah, I know you're thinking that it would feel sleazy do such a thing after Dealer B was so "honest" with you but you gotta look out for Numero Uno, aka yourself.

That can sometimes blow....I kinda felt the same way when I bought my '03. You'll get over it and then enjoy the car.

Don't feel bad man.

Car sales is an ugly, dirty game, and the dealer does what must be done to make that sale. They take "care" of you to take care of themselves, so even their kindness is all business.

Enjoy your Evo!

One of my buddies heard about what happened, he sent me a video of a WRX, EVO, and S4 that he said would cheer me up. I just can't watch it from work.
