SCCA Solo II Stock Class?

Does anyone yet know the stock class for the Evo 8 yet? There is a large SCCA race here in Houston the first weekend of April. I think it is a national sponsored event. I am thinking about entering but have no idea what class to go in. I guess SM is always an option but I would still be outclassed there.

I have talked to several people and right now it only shows up in the STX class. The guy told me that if it hasn't been classified yet, then you will have to run in SS (Super Stock) until they figure out the proper class. We'll see....

The Evo VIII is specifically excluded from the STX class, along with the Soobie STi, per the 2003 Rules book. Word right now is a tentative placement in B stock, possibly A stock depending on how well it runs.

I called Doug Gill at the SCCA last week and there is still no definate classing. He was pretty certain it would be A stock (M3, Boxster S, C4 Vette), but also possibly F stock (Mustang, Camaro, Firebird). B stock does not seem to be a possibility any longer. I bet there will be a classing in the next FastTrack.

He also told me that the STi and Evo will definately be in the same class, wherever that may be.

The Evo and STi are definately NOT allowed in STX.

Interesting... you know the Mustang/Camaro guys would have some serious knots in their knickers if they had to run against a lighter AWD car... it'd be worth it just see the looks on their faces

A stock seems likely from what I've gathered. I have a hard time seeing it in F stock or STX.

To me, A Stock seems appropriate.

No update in the April Fastrack, so likely we'll hear solid info after a couple events. Plan on A stock though, and waving at Boxster S guys as you smoke their times.
