I was involved in a car accident back in april, 2005. I was riding in my friends rr evo and i was the passenger. We were on our way back to drop off some tools for another Evo owner that let us borrow so we could install the cams. As we were almost to the friends house my friend was making a right hand turn, some 18yr old kid was coming at 60mph on a 35mph zone, unfortunately as we were turning i was t-boned real bad. I was knocked out and i was taken to the hospital. I got cuts, bruises, mesed up neck and back. I also tore the miniscus and ligaments in my knee due to the accident. I have been going to a chiropractor since april and i had knee surgery a month ago. I have never had this happen to me before or experineced this. I currently have an attorney representing me with my case. Since i have never done this before, what can i expect? I have no idea what will happen when they do a settlement, what will i have in my favor since i was a victim and was the passenger? Im kind of nervous and stressed out about all this for the last 5 months. Anyone been in this situation? What was the outcome? Thank you and i appreciate it.

I guess the attorney will help with all this. Anything i need to do that i should be aware off so i dont get screwed?
Your insurance should cover most of your medical bills? You should definitly consult with a lawyer. Hopefully everything works out for you.
I was the passenger of a suv roll over a couple of weeks ago and going to the chiropractor. This year has been strange since I hear so many car related accidents recently

I am in the same boat as you although the lady that hit me just drove into the side of my car and knocked me into the median. It has now been over a year and I have had ongoing shoulder pain. I can't do any of the things I used to. It seems to be all muscle and legament related. Physical therapy/chiropractor has not helped. I am now getting injections into my shoulder. Work has absolutely sucked. Stress makes things worse and my job is full of it. I hope that you don't have any long term or permanent problems. No amount of money is worth it to me. How much is pain for a year or worse yet the rest of your life worth and not being able to do what you would like??? At this point, I don't think any amount of money is worth it personally. Hope you get your life back. That would be the best settlement you could get.

I was almost killed in an auto accident and if I were to give you advice, I would definitely say that you need to be patient when dealing with the ins. companys..I believe they can take a max. of 2 yrs depending on what state you live in..Be weary of an attorney who is telling you to settle with just a few months, and leave no rock unturned.

I just settled my accidents (2) last week. I had my first accident in May of 2003 involving a 18 wheeler cutting in front of me(illegal turn) and causing me to go under his trailer in my convertable eclipse. I had over $12,000 worth of damage to the car and sustained numerous injurys. The second accident was in the rental car 30 days later in which a guy from out of town pulled out in front of me causing me to almost flip the rental car(his fault). Both accidents were the other persons fault.
I just had lower back surgery 3 1/2 months ago fusing a disc and installing two titanium screws about 2 inches long into the joint. I had numerous injections in my neck including facet blocks, trigger points, and a epidural. All were in my neck and painfull as hell. I went through 2 years of physical therapy, 1 surgery, 1 year of pain management, and coutless visits to different doctors.
It all depends on how much the persons insurance covers. My first accident with the 18 wheeler was obviously a big pocket, but the guy from Florida only had $25,000 coverage. I have lifetime restrictions of no lifting more than 25lbs work, home, or exercising. I can't play any of the sports I use to FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. Because the second accident didn't have that much for coverage I didn't settle for anywhere near what I thought I would.
I would guess after everything is said and done you will end up with around $20,000-30,000 after all your bills are paid. I had very serous injurys and lifetime restrictions, so considering your injury compared to mine that is what I would guess for you. It could take up to 2 years so I hope you are patient. Being in Florida doesn't help and that is what I learned about my case. I am in Georgia and if I was in New York my case would've been worth $1,000,000-1,500,000, but I only settled for about %20 of that. I hope that puts things into perspective. The insurance laws in the south SUCK! Up north, cases are worth far more than down here.
Good luck man, it is a long and painful experience.

I rececievd 115k for a motorcycle accident in Dec '04. I had 30k in medical bills, 25k went to the lawyer, and I got 60k in my savings account.
Took some time to get everything straightened out, but I still have to live with Ti rods in both my femurs :wow:
