Who thinks the D2 coilover is good? You? I think theyre crap as well along with most of the coilovers on the market. People spend 200 dollars on a guage because it has other features that may be useful to them. I like to use the playback and peak features on occasion instead of whipping out the laptop. Granted there are people that buy it just to be "cool." Not all guages are created equal, Ive seen the crap out there in last 15+ years of using guages.

The Megan guage should work fine, why don't you guys just anwer the guys questions. He was nto asking what boost gauge to buy?

If your running 25psi on stock everything you should be throwing a overboosting CEL and it would not be pretty when you felt your car doign this. Damage should be minimal because the stock computer has probably pulled timing everywhere to protect you from destroying your engine. Please stats any mods you have to make the diagnoses better.

I still don't understand why someone would spend $200 for a boost guage when most of the time the $30-$50 one is made with similar parts. As far as a mechanical boost guage I have trouble seeing the difference. I have installed both and they both work, 3/4's of the price for the more expensive one is the name anyways.

His times have improved and he says the suspension feels far better than stock when pushed. This guy is an avid racer and says the setup is great. I think he has 5-10k on the setup. What went bad on your friends car?

The peak/hold functions are nice although for most it is unneeded expense. I took apart an autometer boost guage and a cheap one like I have in my car and there was no difference in anything really. If someone has a mechanical expensive guage they want to give me to take apart feel free to PM me although I doubt it. For the reliance people put on guages I am VERY surprised to not see anyone looking into this further.

well, anything is better than stock.

i'm rather skeptical of quick start up companies with little Rnd time. they outsource nearly all their products to taiwan. additionally, i have a friend who is sponsored and knows all the owners of megan. he says their products are crap. know what coilovers he's running? apex'i n1 - wonder why.

Like joe said i didnt ask anyone on opinion on the gauge or which gauge to buy, all i wanted to do is see if i could have caused some damage bvut i guess not because i didnt hit fuel cut at all, maybe the gauge was completely off, and like joe said me and a bunch of friends took apart a megan gauge as well as an automoeter and they looked exactly the same, so even though something is cheap doesnt mean its bad, but its the same with everything have you guys never heard of just paying for the name. One gauge can be 200$ dollars and be almost identical to another for 40$ and the only thing that would distinguish the 2 is the brand name. Sometimes you pay for just that the NAME, and i got a new megan racing gauge this one reads just fine compared it to one of my friends gauges and its dead on, the only thing now is i think i have a boost leak because im still not holding boost was going to make one of the compression tester things but have no time. Anyways thanks for the info Joe

i doubt you've hurt anything by boosting that high, you would have seen problems arise already

good post.
i hate to see all the "buy it 'cause it costs more, therefore it's teh betta!!1" posts. not everything that glitters is gold, guys. besides, some ppl try to save money BECAUSE they own a $35k car, so they might not have a lot left over for $200 boost gauge. not everyone has money to blow on cars, ppl have priorities. and megan makes some decent knock-off products for honduh.

I agree your ecu should have pulled timing when the boost got to high
