I wouldn't know as my RS didn't come with any speakers. I think there is a seperate tweeter location.

www.crutchfield.com for all the specs. And sometimes they have great deals.

6.75. if you want to get speakers you will need to get an adaptor plate or fabricate one yourself..one of the many brilliant ideas made by mitsu =/

Yeah -- the speaker is 6.5 -- but like sirloin said you will need an adaptor. I ran into that problem ...sucked but thank god Infinity makes some big speaker mounts

Here I go digging up another old thread.

onlinecarstereo.com has several sets of 6.75 speakers...would these be more ideal for replacing the stock ones?

My JL Audio XR 6.5 fit out of my M3 fit just fine. I could only get two of the screws in on each speaker in the rear deck though.

SOME 6.5" speakers will fit. The car is designed with 6.75" or some weird number. Check the audio section to see what people are doing. You can get cheap adaptor plates to run the speakers if you have to. Its not as big of a deal as it sounds.

Unfortuntely, most of the good speakers are 6.5", so if youre looking to spend the time and money to upgrade, get the speakers you want, and then make them fit, even if they do require a plate.

Speakers are like a good suspenion setup. You don't want to do it half *** and then make your car sound worse than it already is.

I put 6.5" JBL's in the doors on my RS. No fitment issues whatsoever and my death metal collection never sounded so good.
