Down Payments?

My g/f is looking for an evo as well. She wants a new one of course, and was wondering what kind of down payments did you guys have to put down and if you had a trade in. If you could post up that info, it would be really helpful to her!

Thanks.

I didn't have to put anything down, but I went ahead and put 10k down anyway, just to keep monthly payments manageable. Get her to buy the Evo while she can get 0% financing for 60 months (on approved credit, of course)!

Haha, it's funny you drive a WRX and she'll be driving the Evo...it's the opposite for me (girl drives the WRX, and I'm driving the Evo)

I put 11k down to keep my payments down even though I got 0% financing. I sold my car to my brother for 5.5k. Now I am regreting putting 11k down. But I do have about 1.6k left on my 02 Tundra that needs to be paid off. I am hoping to finish the Tundra payments by the end of the year.

you know that's a pretty stupid question. Your down should be based on what you wanna pay a month. for every $1000 you finance is approx $20/mo

example $30k = 600 mo. and that's based at around 6-7%apr

Technically you don't need to put any money down for a car loan but that somewhat depends on your credit.

Actually i know that you don't "have" to put money down. But i have a hard time getting her to understand what im saying when it comes to credit and loan etc. I wasnt asking the question for me, im already approved for my MR, i just havent went and picked one out yet. She doesnt have the best credit in the world and she wanted an idea of what other people had to put down for get their Evo. Ive financed 3 cars, and ive never put a dime down for any one of them. The monthly payment isnt one of her worries, she is just willing to do what she has to do to get into the car. She makes enough to cover it since she lives @ home and has no other bills so im just trying to help her out because i dont know how these situations work when you finance through a dealership or when you have some credit problems because im a very credit concious person, im almost **** about it, but she wasnt and messed up a few times. But thanks for the input. She should see this post later today whens he gets home from work.

ZERO down w/ ZERO apr is the way to go. The way I see it, mitsu is paying me to accrue interest on the money that would have gone towards a down.

If her credit sucks let's say below 620 FICO and has derogs and never finance a car before she's probably going to be looking at having to put down at least half. 90% of the time the bank decides how much you should put down and the rate will most likely be about 14.95%+ depending on the lender. I suggest her getting a co signer and financing through a credit union.
