Changing oil

I just wanted some thoughts from some who may know better. I changed my oil and filter at 1200 miles, could this be a bad thing...Im just more concerned about oil rings seating correctly..could changing the oil at 1200 miles harmed anything?I also wanted to add that after my oil change I did a oil level test. I let the car sit over night and looked at the stick the next day after changing the oil and the level mark was just under the top groove on the stick. now after 1k miles on the newer oil its just above the bottom groove on the stick...
what are most of you're thoughts on changing oil at 1k...

please no flames....

The manual says to change the oil every 5000 miles, which seems a bit high? My new EVO has about 700 miles on it, when should I do my first oil change and how often after that? i drive pretty hard. I am gunna use royal puple 10w30 full synthetic.

Honestly with a full synthetic you are just wasting your money changing it so often unless you are in some severe conditions. But no it wont hurt a thing as long as you change your oil filter as well.
