The reason why the VIII badge is so expensive is cause of demand for it and everyone who's selling it are marking it up.
It all depends on how much it means to you.

The JDM Evo 8's don't actually have an "Evolution VIII" badge, they have the same trunk badging as the USDM except the "Lancer" and "Evolution" badges are opposite each other. It was only the U.K cars that have the "Evolution VIII" badge that goes across the rear.

The JDM Evo IX's pretty much have the same badging as the VIII as well. The "Evolution VII" badge looks alot different to the U.K-spec "Evolution VIII" badge.

After looking long and hard, I picked up the last black one I could find from STIKiller.com. I think LancerShop is expecting a shipment in the not too distant future.

I got the IX badge from e-bay, it was a really lucky find and I got it for an excellent price. I am not willing to disclose the price I paid, all I can say is that those of you who have the Evo VIII trunk badge have been ripped off. $80+ bucks is way too much.
It is all about supply and demand.

I really badly want the Evo IX badge too.
