i say if you are worried about gas dont get the evo, if u can afford 35 grand for a car paying for gas should be the last thing you are worried about. insurance at 16 is what you should be worried about.

i say get another car to get comfortable with driving first not because 16 year olds cant drive its just safer. i had my mustang since jr year in hs. granted its not as fast as an evo but it was faster than most cars out at the time and could still get you in a lot of trouble if you are not careful. if you get the evo take it slow. slowly learn how to drive the car. and in the time get comfortable with the car and learn your own abilities. fast cars are trouble. especially driving with friends or next to friends. the evo ix will be the fastest evo yet. so if you do get one like i said take it slow.

PROs
Its an evo!

Cons
first time driver
your new favorite hang out will be the gas station because it will burn a hole in your pocket
non forgiving transmission - grind it too much (being new you tend to do that, its natural)
very high maintanence - tires alone are going to run you a bare minimum of 180+ per tire (and thats with hookups) ranging all the way up to 260 PER tire. plus oil changes every 2500 miles (its a fantastic machine. treat it like one)

its deffinitely not easy to handle.

im 22, i go to school at night and work full time (roughly 30k a year, 14.50 an hour) live at home and pay rent (temporarily till im out of school) and let me tell you, this car is not easy to handle.

i love it and won't ever turn my back on it just so that i can have a little more fun on the weekends but you have to really dedicate your self to it if you're young.

especially at 15 or 16.

heres a reference to a kid who disregarded what we told him and didn't appreciate all he was already given.

best of luck and deffinitely get it later if you can.
That story you are refering to, that was me. I don't own an evo so what are you talking about. You make it sound like I bought one and crashed it or something.

good thinking bro, to be honest, you sound very responsible for your age, i know its gonna be a hard decision to make, but youre making the right decision. first time drivers just arent ready for cars like this, we see it all the time, a kid buys a car like this and crashes, its not safe and not cool, get a used car like you said, feel out the world of driving for a little bit, then when youre ready get the evo. i just wanna give you the thumbs up for being intelligent and making the right decision, and not being a snotty snobby spoiled kid like some others out there, best of luck

buy a cheap used higly reliable car like civic, integra, miata, 240sx (example of good FF and FR cars) do NOT mod it with stuff that won't do much good, like mufflers, exhaust, intake (seriously, that stuff is next to useless on NA-nonturbo small engine cars). save the money and use it instead to buy nice sticky tires (use on stock rims, save more money), run in autocross to learn how to drive cars at the extreme and how to stay in control. u will appreciate it later. not everyone gets their dream car the first time around, don't sweat it, the wait is WORTH it. and don't let ppl coerce u into doing stupid things on the street. u have NOTHING to prove to anyone, stay safe buddy.

lol are you serious? i think the nark is probably just playing with you cuz if you're not handicapped and have a handicap permit you're risking not just getting a big citation but having your car towed. also, i dont but maybe others do, if others, especially hs kids, see you parked in a handicap and are not handicapped they'll f.uck up your car, similar to those who double park and so forth.
