first off... she didn't ask me to sell the car, nor did she ask me to marry her

second, i decided to sell the evo to invest money in real estate, i didn't like the idea of paying 500/month for a car, when i can pay a little bit more for a house which is an appreciating asset.

third, she's an RN and i'm a system trainer for North america. she's graduated, I am almost finished, we're taking in about 90-92k together.

fourth, i love the evo more than any car, and i'm a huge car fanatic, but somethings are more important than cars IMO. maybe not yours.

so... i'm just having EVO withdrawl, but i'll have it soon. She doesn't deprieve me of having anything I want, if she can make it happen, she'll make it happen. No pussification here, I am just trying to invest and make gains on my investments, so hopefully I don't have to worry about bills when we have the wedding or I buy my evo. is that so bad?

neways... i pass by mitsu everyday to work, and I just drool

lighten up guys...

I sold my EVO. My kids are getting older and bigger. More money needed set aside for them. We also got a dog this summer which led us to get an SUV. Honestly, I really can't justify $600/month in car payments and additional insurance premiums. Like Jotan82 said, I can go buy a rental property for that much.

That being said, I really do miss the EVO. I miss my Jeep Wrangler, too. I just miss having a car to pamper. I may consider picking up a used EVO in a few years. The one thing I don't miss is driving stick for daily city driving.

Jotan,

i am in the exact same spot as you so don't worry. i just got married and had to sell the evo so i can buy a house and have some money. i do miss the car so bad that it hurts sometimes but the way i look at it, in about 1-2 years when things settles down, i will be able to afford another EVO. to me, a house is the most important thing in the world because it is an asset unlike the car. we are all still young and we will have all the time in the world to drive nice cars. i didn't want to be like some people i know that are in their 30's or 40's and drive very nice cars but they don't actually own anything and still pay rent. as for the other guys that saying that he is owned and that no girl is worth it, grow up. you will find out soon enough that you can find 100's of evo's for sale and only 1 girl that will truly make you happy. i knew that this is the one for me when she saw me yankin the engine out of my brand new evo to install cams and gauges and all she said was :" i still love you even though you are an idiot who just took the engine out of a brand new 30k car"

Yes -- there is much more to life than cars.

I'm considering getting rid of mine for many reasons, one of which is the ridculous fanatics that drive them. I suppose I could ignore them, but at times I just really get sick of getting grouped with them.

Here's an idea. Instead of flipping the house real quick (less than a year) and paying an individual tax rate, fix it up, keep it as a rental and refinance. Not only will you get cash flow from the house, you'll have a nice downpayment for your Evo (or to pay off wedding expenses). Then buy another fixer and keep doing this. You'll be able to retire early.
