repost: advice please

I posted this in the off topic section the first time. I know more people frequent general discussion so I'm going to repost it here. Hope it's ok.

I'm going to college and trying to get myself an evo. I only have about 9k to put down. I work fulltime and I pay for everything by myself other than housing and food. That being provided by my parents. My parents would get the 0% financing setup for me(I don't have any credit, and 0% would rock), but I'm wondering if I should wait for the evo ix or not. If I wait, I'm worried Mitsu won't be doing the 0% deal anymore. What do you guys think?

I think it's safe to say that the 0% financing will be going away soon, the Fed raised their rate again yesterday. You might want to get in on the 0% now.

that's a difficult decision, for me if I were in your position I would first decide which evo I really wanted. That helps point you in the right direction. Then I would get the dealer or bank to run the financing numbers so you know what the monthly payment would be on the evo 8 with 0%apr and also figure the price and ???%apr for the evo 9. If the payments after the 0% was way to high then that would make my decision for me. If you really wanted a evo9 you could always wait a little longer and get a used one with low miles from a dealer at a discounted price, just a thought. Good luck

IMO i would wait til you get out of college. Party and have a good time in college. You have the rest of your life to work full time. I work 32 hours a week plus go to college full time to pay for my car. It sucks i have no life. If i could do it all over again i would have waited til i graduated to buy my car.

But if you are going to buy, do it now so you can get the 0%, that won't last long. $9000 is a lot to put down, you should be able to talk the dealers down in price a lot with a down payment like that. It will keep your monthly payments down too.

how patient are you? generally the trend is the longer you wait the cheaper the car will be due to devaluation. the ix is a nicer and better car but in your situation under these circumstances it would be better to get the viii and the 0%. like awdrift said, if you decide to get this car now, while you are in college, you will be working most of the time and will not have much of a social life - unless you get a very good paying job. good luck to you.

get the 0 percent before its gone

but if you have money issues , then wait for the 9 and save up some more cash for downpayment , insurance, etc

I prefer look of the ix over the viii. Sol I'd rather have the evo ix, but not if I can't get the 0% financing. I wouldn't consider buying a car like an evo used myself. So it's going to have to be new.
