My car just broke 110 miles a couple of days ago so i decided to open it up a litle for the first time today. 4000-5000 was all but boy was she singing and boy was it fast! God i love this car. Can't wait to start going into the performance modifications . Right now its just preperation ( Turbo time, gauges, and short shifter ).

I know how you feel. I'm finally at 700 miles today. I'm getting some of the cosmetic stuff out of the way now so I can focus on performance later.

The break in period is always a big debate, mine didnt see 6000 rpms until I had 2500 miles and my first oil change. The wait was torture.

But you think I'm still OK to drop in the K&N and get it up to 6000rpm after I hit the 1,000 mile mark?

I met some guy with a BRAND NEW UGLY *** STI. He just drove it off the lot with like 50 miles on it. He said it will be the worst 3 weeks of his life.

God, that thing was so ugly

Yes, there is a debate over the break-in period, but the debate is whether you go to 600 miles or don't wait at all. Waiting 2500 miles is absurd. How are your rings going to seal properly if you never go full boost at 7000 rpm? The engine needs to be run properly in order for everything to seat. There is no break-in procedure that says to wait 2500 miles before reving hard.

All you are supposed to do is go no higher than 5k until 600 miles, then you can ape out after that. There's also no reason to change the oil early, but to each his own. Some people like to get the oil changed once early just to get the initial shavings out, I suppose, but I've only changed mine twice in now 11 months of ownership. I do it every 4500 miles and would do it every 5k if it wasn't taking so long to reach 5000 miles.

Says the OZ owner? As ugly as the new STIs are, they don't compare to the atrociousness of a base Lancer.

You are so full of ****. The STi hate on this board is complete bull****. Let's face it guys, it is very similar in performance to the Evo whether you admit it or not. Yeah, the new styling is questionable, but the Evo isn't exactly gods gift to asthetics. I think people with our particular type of car are more interested in performance rather than who has the pretty car.

BUT HEY MAN HIGH FIVES FOR EVERYONE, YOU JUST MADE FUN OF AN STi, WELCOME TO THE COOL KIDS CLUB! HUR HUR.
