If your car is modifed and you break something liek the transfercase, diff, your warranty will not be honored. (If you decide to 1/4 your car be sure to read up on launching AWD cars)
Good luck and hopefully you do whatever this forum tells you.

My friend has an EVO and is always talking about how good they were so i decided to check them out. I drove one the other day and let me tell you, I like it. It handles very nice, the seats are comfortable, the brembo brakes to the trick when it comes to stopping, and i love the turbo. However, i dont like that its a 2.0 4 cyl. i guess because im used to driving a V8. My buddy who has a 1993 Mustang 5.0 has been giving me **** all day about how he cant believe im converting over to Japanese cars and that the car is a piece of crap that has reached its maximum potential (power and speed wise) when it came out of the factory. In your opinion is this car worth buying? I think its not only fast, but AWD is nice and it seems like its a practical car. I would appreciate your input.
and yes you should get one.
upgrade from the mustang to an evo is a good choice
man you sound like i did lol. i had a 02 gt that ran 13.5 in the 1/4 with a trap of 106.5 on street tires. i thought it was quick till i got my *** handed to me by the rnr evo before the turbo upgrade. now i own an evo that will run low 12's all day and might even crack into the high 11's on race gas (might
). do i miss the mustang? only the looks it got but as far as the performance there is nothing to miss. oh ya, ive got about 2500-3000k invested in aftermarket parts.

Well how about this. My Evo STOCK went 13.234 @ 102 with a 1.7 60 foot time. My 98 Cobra bone stock went 13.60 @ 102 with a 1.9 60 foot on a stock tire. It's really all in the driving.
If you're building a car for the quarter mile and quarter mile only, the Mustang is the way to go. 03/04 Cobras make redicilous power, and the smallest bolt ons make a killer difference. If you're looking for a car that's a lot more daily driveable (in ALL weather conditions... and very fun in the snow) the Evo is the way to go.
The thing with Mustangs is you can make all the power in the world on just pump gas... depending on your setup. I have friends who go sub-10s in 03/04 Cobras on pump fuel... this would NEVER happen in an Evo.
Also, a Mustang with suspension and on a good tire will out 60 foot an Evo... not by much, but it will.
Bottom line, if it was between an 03/04 Cobra and an Evo for me... I'd go with the 03/04 Cobra ONLY if I had a daily driver car. (I'm big into making tons of power on pump fuel, and drag racing.) If I just had one car... Evo. Anyday.
Another thing to consider is insurance and car payments. The 03/04 Cobra will probably be a little more expensive, and insurance will be a LOT more.

Of course you can install a BOV yourself. THe only thing easier and quicker to install is a drop-in panel filter, but please don't even think about replacing your BOV for a while until you have modded quite a bit.
The 03/04 Cobras are a freak of nature. Since were on an EVO board I'll tell you what the average Cobra owner will tell you. With less than 2000 bucks you can make a Cobra put down between 500-550whp gauranteed. That is without touching the engine internals and all easy bolt ons and tuning. I have three friends with Cobras around here. One makes right around 400whp with just a cone filter and one other base mod (not a pulley). The second guy spent right around 1000 bucks and makes just around 500whp. The third guy spent between 1500-2000 bucks and makes around 550whp.
If easy drag times and crazy hp are your goals then go with the Cobra. HOWEVER, as I have learned over the years there should be more to a car than just straight line performance. The EVO was not designed to be a drag car. Granted it does very well at it but still it was designed off of a rally car platform. The car is made to be good at just about everything. Granted right now I think 9s are the fastest in the US but you have to realize that the US market has just opened and we here in the US LOVE to modify. In less than three years the EVO has managed to get within a second of full weight DSMs that have been around for over 10 years. Granted they are cousins in a sense but the EVO IMO has much more potential. Give it a couple of years and I would not doubt if you see an EVO pulling low 8s in street trim.
Cliff Notes: If you want a straight line beast with massive hp potential then go with the Cobra. If you want a car that has very good hp potential AND is a heavy hitter in all the other performance areas besides just a straight line then go with the EVO.

yeah after doing a 180 on a wet road in my mustang last night not even going fast (girlfriend driving behind me, scared the **** out of her) i think i will look forward to the AWD and overall better performance in areas besides straight line speed.
