tuning
i'm new at tuning cars so pls. bear with me. i'll have my hks intake next week but i asked a couple of guys in my preveiws thread on how much horsepower will i gain, but they told me that i'll lose power instead. can u guys explain it to me a lil bit more clearer
you will lose power because the ecu will compensate for all that new air thats coming in to the turbo a little faster and go a little richer (hence losing mpg on gas). Also pull timing (hence lag), lower the boost as a precaution from the ecu( hence slower), and yea it sucks. So what you have to do is get a little device that will trick the ecu or reflash the ecu completely(better idea) or better yet (but costs more) get a standalone ecu to customize everything. You need to send messages to the ecu that its getting less air and actually raise timing and burn very well in the combustion area hence the piggyback such as SAFC2 (very popular amongst tuners. But its all around better if you reflash your ECU specifically for that intake and whatever else you threw on the car. SAFC2 for fine tuning + FLASH=lethal combination!
NOW my friend you'll make power with proper tuning everything is possible.

where do I start?
Check out this thread- where do i start? it has some info you need to know.... your friends should read it too....
the HKS intake has worked well for me.... a tune helps.... some vendors think the stock box is all u need....
I like the HKS, good choice
