whats the hate with rotarys? If you take care of them and know what you are doing they will last.

I agree that a rotary can be very dependable. I would go for it if I was in the same situation.

Wish I could have both! that would be a dream! I know rx7 may not be as reliable as the evo. But spirit R Rx7s are limited edition (1500 only). Real dilemma i am in. I dont really want any modded ones cuz they will be less reliable. Only bone stock. hmmmm.... still thinking. Will let u guys know if I go for the swap. In the mean time,, keep the inputs flowing in...

I'm not sure sure. I would expect it to be quicker but there are some Rx-7s racing out here and they aren't any quicker the boost restricted Evo VIIIs. They aren't Spirit Rs but they are the Series 8 RS and they are completely stripped out for racing so all the carbon fiber stuff in that Spirit R wouldn't matter. They have also been caught cheating twice and even then they still weren't winning every race. Maybe they would be quicker but I don't think it would be a big difference. I think you would mostly want this car for it's collectablility.

The Spirit R is a rare car indeed, but to us in the USA they stopped making them in 1995, so seeing a newer RX-7 is big news to us, but to you it really isn't and I wouldn't trade a JDM EVO for that car in my opinion.

yea,,,I think the rx-7 spirit R is more of a WOW! sort of car. But when all the dust settles in, I think I would be happier with an evo. I guess Evo 9 would be a better choice for the long run. Wish I had the rx-7 as well, just as a collectors car/ weekend racer.
