$5k to spend

When the Navy sends me packing this winter, I'll be getting a nice little bonus-I'm thinking of going for a Buschur Stage 3 setup..Is there anything else that will give me as much bang for my bucks?

(My car is stock now)

- MBC w/gauge = $200
- JDM MR DV = $120
- Megan 3" catless TBE = $600
- Works drop-in filter = $80
- Cams of your choice (264/272/280) =$550
- Meth kit = $400
- Custom flash = $400
- Walbro 255lph fuel pump = $90

That's $2440 if you install it all yourself and would be good for around 350whp. I would keep the remaining $2560 in preparation for a clutch replacement. If you pay for installation on some or all of the parts, then you obviously pay for that with the remaining $2560.

Also, make sure you search first next time. Many, many people have asked this same question, and we give the same answer(s) every time.

Trust me.. dont go mod crazy on performance mods in your situation, you will end with no car. Get a catback, SAFCII and maybe a resonated test pipe and go get tuned.. spend the rest on an extra set of wheels or something. If you end up with all kinds of performance mods its just gonna cost you more money.. a 400bhp evo eat through tires, 3 months and 3 autox on my new hankook hrIIs and iv got less then half the tread life left. 4/32s

damn right, you want a bonus like that, enlist. if not, let him spend his money. i lived next to fort hood and got to see the cars that all the single GIs spent their overseas bonus on. i enjoyed it.

Last time I checked, the military isn't a charity organization. I am pretty sure he earned the money and doesn't have to get a order from congress on how to spend it.

I do however agree that the $5000 could be spent more wisely than on mods but it is his money. Have fun with it.

nothing against evolving03, but both my parents are military, i know the benefits. if the navy is anything like the army, if he lives on base he pays no bills. if hes single, no ties. food, they have dining halls or if off post they give him money for food. living off post, they give him housing money to live in a house. everything on post is tax free and i believe his bonus is tax free as well. what else are you going to spend money on? if the navy applies to none of this, sorry for the waste of time lol.

First of all, this "kid" is 23 years old and already has a college degree. Second, drucea is right- because of my location on a nearly pre-historic island, I save just about every penny that I earn- hence, having the $ to put down on my car and being able to afford the payments. Also, since you pulled the "tax dollars" card, would you mind giving me a raise? I'm working 50+ hour weeks in 110 Degree heat with a Kevlar vest on, and carrying an M16, and am pretty sure that I make less than most evo owners on this site..I normally don't mind, but since you brought it up...

I feel like I wasted too much time on this guy, so, back to the subject and thanks for the replies. I would like to buy the parts individually, or even just buy the Stage 3 kit, and install it, but I'm no mechanic and wouldn't want to mess anything up- I usually don't even attempt anything that isn't a minor install, so I might be stuck with having to pay some crazy price to make sure that it's done right..
