Are these Cars all Spoken For?

Of those people that have been to the dealers to take some pix of the Evo, have you guys spoken to the dealers while there? I find it interesting that I'm seeing Evo's displayed in show rooms. If these cars are in such high demand, why aren't they being prep'd and sent out the door? I find it odd that dealers are pumping up the prices on these cars, calling them hard to get, yet everyone seems to be able to find them at the dealers.

This also comes from another forum member that recently picked up an Evo. He stated in his message that the dealer he was going thru wasn't getting one for a while, and was able to place a few calls and get a car that evening.

I should point out that I'm very interested in the Evo and trying to figure out what's going on with the dealers. I dont want anyone to read too far into this and think i'm starting a "The evo's are selling" thread. Please understand that's not the intention at all!

Thanks for the input!

Well for instance, the dealer my friend purchased his car from had received 5 cars by last Thursday night. One red car was already delivered, two yellows were there - one sold but not delivered yet, and then two silvers - both sold, one to my friend. They also stated they had a black one on the way that was sold, but later that deal fell apart making that car available.

I think in some cases, you have dealers that are insisting on the markups and driving customers away. In other places you may have cars that are about to be delivered, maybe at the dealership for just a day or two and caught sitting by the camera. Then you have some dealers that may initially be getting just one or two cars that they have prior agreements on and so they don't end up having any stock at all.

It really depends on the area, the selling tactics and the amount of cars they will receive. The cars are moving though - just not the ones with a gross adjusted market value hanging in the window. If the dealers in your area are playing that game, give it some time and it will diminish or disappear. There won't be a true shortage of EVOs if you want one - especially if it is true that Mitsu plans on building more if demand exceeds the initial allocation of 6500 units.

There are evos available, at MSRP. See this thread:

In the case of the two I shot earlier today, they're available because they're priced $2k over MSRP. No one is interested around here in paying more than sticker (for good reason, IMO).
