Ok, I'm going to be blunt. Sh*t, or get off the pot. Just buy one or the other.

Get an Evo RS (and buy the spoiler seperately). Don't waste your money on the Evo VIII.

Actually, while mentioning the RS and VIII, what are the differences in the two, aside from one not having a spoiler? I know they're somewhat stripped down also, but what is stripped?

I've heard that the MR actually makes less hp than the other versions, but has a larger turbo and the 6spd. I know it has a 6spd, but are the hp specs different, and does it have a different turbo?

I think I've also seen him on one of the WRX or STi sites as well, asking the same questions, except for about the STi.

I'm not quite sure what he's trying to accomplish. I understand his reasoning behind going to each, a Subaru site, and an Evo site, doing his homework and gathering information, but in the end he's going to be in the same position, at Square One. Enter a Subaru forum, and everyone is going to be telling you to get the STi. Enter a Mitsubishi forum, and everyone is going to be telling you to get the Evo.

I'll just try to give a real simple rendition of my unbiased opinion: You can't mke the wrong decision. These cars are so close in comparison, that it's unreal. I purchased the STi because I have ALWAYS been a fan of the STi. I've just ALWAYS loved it since it was first introduced. For some reason, I just always gravitated towards it. But, that doesn't mean I didn't test drive the competition.

Comparison-wise, after driving them both, and weighing out the pros/cons of each, I was stuck throwing up my hands in frustration, unsure which way to go. In the end I chose the STi because I felt that it wasn't as edgy, and the ride quality was a bit more in tune for the street than what the Evo's ride was. I found that the Evo was just a bit too raw to live with as a daily driver, and was more suited to the track than to the street.

It's a matter of personal preference. If you want something that you can wring out on the back roads, or take the occasional trip to the road course, but need a daily driver, then the STi is for you. If you spend a lot of time at the track (road courses), and want something for competition use, the Evo is your game.

Unfortunately, this is a decision that nobody can make except for the buyer. He's going to have either sacrifice a little bit in the handling department, or a little bit in the refinement/comfort department. It's a matter of what's more important.

Who told you that joke? It's pretty funny.

Most of the Subaru stealerships I hear about try to use every and any excuse to try and swindle their way out of warranty claims. At least, that's what they do around my area.

I had an 03 evo for 30k miles and my dad has a new 05 MR. I now have an 04 STI with 24k miles. It's my daily driver, and after getting used to it, I would never get another evo unless they improve their quality and horrible customer service. My dad's MR clutch just got replaced under warranty with only 3k miles. When he got the car back all three ACD lights were on so he turned the car around and they kept the car for a few more days. It's good that it was all covered though.
With my experience there is an obvious quality difference. I haven't had one single problem with my STI. It's a much better every day car, and stock performance is better in a straight line with no lag at all, which is very evident when I drive my dad's MR now.
With all that being said, if I wanted a track car or a 600whp street monster, I would get an 05 RS, but only if Mitsu changed their pathetic quality and customer service. This is only my experience, I'm sure others who have owned both have different perspectives.

Thanks for the help I have collected all the info I will need I just need to wait to drive both of them. You are right I was on a STi forum also I figured I would ask questions on both so I could hear both sides and not get biast opinions. I was surpeised to find out that both sides seem to have the same thing to say.

STi: on both evo and sti forums everyone says, get it if you want a daily driver, reliable, comfortable and quality of build.

Evo: on both sides people say, cheaper to mod, handles better , higher potenial for hp in long run.

Thanks for all the help guys, I will let you know once I purchase and I think you guys are right either way I will have a great care and it will all come down to the deal I can get and the test drive.
