Evolution test numbers
My latest issue (April 2003) of Road and Track (vipers on the cover) showed up today.
In the Road Test section (the section in the back with the data) has data on the Evolution:
Make & Model: Lancer Evolution
Issue: 3-03
List Price: $29,500
Price as Tested: $30,600
Engine Type: I-4t
Horsepower: 271
0-60 mph, sec: 5.1
0-100 mph, sec: 13.4
1/4 mile, sec @ mph: 13.8 @ 101.5
Top Speed, mph: 155 (electronically limited)
Braking from 60 mph, feet: 117
Braking from 80 mph, feet: 199
Skidpad, g: 0.97
Our fuel mileage, mpg: 19.0
According to this data, our car outhandles (faster in the slalom, more g's on the skidpad) and outbrakes (both 60-0 and 80-0) the Porsche 911. Not a bad comparison car, eh?

Finally something relativly positive, everyone is griping about the dyno #'s. I have driven fast cars, this car is plenty fast. My last car was a vette and my evo just feels quicker. I have yet to take it to the track though. soon very soon. 5.1 is better than 5.4 1/4 mile is ok I won't be pissed if I turn a 13.8.
