Question Intake and MAF flash needed?

First off, no offense or anything SmikeEvo I just wanted to make sure. I baby my evo So SmikeEvo suggested I install the RMR Intake with the K&N Cone filter.

What i wanted to verify is, does anyone know if this will allow more air to flow into the turbo? Will i need to flash anything as a result? I don't want to install this and have it break my turbo and engine in a month's time. I'm not really looking for performance gain as of now, just enough to hear the pshhh sound haha. Thanks!

well the best way to get that oh so cool pshhh sound would be to get a standalone ecu, and then you car run open atmosphere. dont forget your diamond plate floor pan and direct port nitrous injection. (not a bad way to spend 10 grand) sounds simple enough right? im just playin. you will need a tune or a flash with those parts though.

err sorry to be a noob but what's a "S -afc 2" ?
I hoping that there's an intake and air filter that will push the same amoutn of air into the turbo as the stock one does so i wouldn't have to flash.

dont buy the intake hard pipe. that will result in probs for you unless you flash. Just get a standard k&n cone with a MAF adaptor, vivid racing has them. It will give you the sucking sound and you will hear the stock bov and its around the same price as a drop in

The EVO is getting ricier and ricier. Everyday, we hear post about intake and BOV, just ricers wanting to hear the sound. It is no wonder people think the EVO is nothing but rice.

I dont think there is anything wrong with wanting that from these cars. Hondas are all noise and no power to back it up unless they are done right. That is not the case with the EVO.

Calling a car made in Japan "rice" is racist to me anyways. Ignorant.

You better call prime media, because magazines like Sport Compact Car and Super Street use terms like "Rice".

It's not a "racist" comment at all, it would be the same as calling detroit muscle a cheese burger.

Stop trying to play the victem IMO.

Regardless there are people who take it offensive.. So we should take it for grantted ANYWAY...

I think i'm going to hold off on this and take it to TurboTrix. I'm going to have them install intake, filter, bov, and flash my car all at the same time. Figure i should do all of this in one shot. Does anyone know how much modding all of these usually go for? $1000 or so?

Intake and filter are the same mod. K&N drop-in costs $70. Do not pay to have this installed (2 mins).

JDM MR DV costs $120. Do not pay to have this installed (5 mins).

A flash takes 5 minutes for them to plug in the laptop and reprogram the ECU. The cost depends on whether it's dyno-tuned or not. A mail-in flash usually costs $199.

Altogether this stuff should cost you $390.
