My mixed up evo world, anyone care 2 help?

Ok Im really really messed up right now. I have about 90 days to think this through.

First, lemme tell all you my problem. I need to choose the best choice when it comes to these three cars.

Which one should I choose?
1) Evo 8
2) Evo 7
3) OZ Rally 03'

I needa choose one of these in 90 days becuase:
In 90 days EI Says that there stock of new evo VIIs will be most likey gone, then the used will be there.

In about 110 days, my dealer is planning to replace the OZ Rally with the new lancer !!!

Now, I wanna choose ither the OZ or the evo7, but the evo 7 (after taxes) will be a huge 65grand Canadain, a few more grand and I can buy a f***ing viper lol. So if I was to buy it, it will be a used.

The evo8, looks great to me except the front, If I was to buy it I would wanna change the grill to look almost like the evo7.

If I was to buy the OZ rally, great price, I would be getting my value, and I could get somethin like tha apex kit to make it look simmilar to the evo7, though the only non beift is that I wont be getting the power of the evo lineup.

My questions to you are:
1)What car should I get?

2)If I was 2 get the evo8, is there a way to change the grill and/or hood?

3)If I was to get the evo7, would the used vechiles be just as good?

4)If I was to get the OZ Rally, would the apex kit (or any kit that resembles the evo7) be avaiable in another 2 years or so? and if I was to get the OZ Rally, would there be a way to drop in an evo8/evo7/ or the new lancer engine?

Thanks for your time,
Your choice is basically my choice on where to go, becuase I just cant decide.

An EVO 8 and EVO 7 aren't even the same price. You won't have any EVO 7 maintenence support unless you do all the fixing yourself.

If you are having trouble deciding between an LANCER OZ and EVO 8 .... well, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME CARS!!!!!

You are comparing a brick house to a blender ....

I'd pick the Evo 8 just because it's already DOT-approved and legalized for the states... at no "additional" cost, unlike the Evo 7.

IMHO, the Evo 8 fasica looks good. You may run into problems if you tried to swap the Evo 7 front on there because of the larger and/or heavier DOT-bumper.

Save your money and find a good deal on an Evo 8. Then you can worry about modifying it later. You could even modify the existing front fascia at a good body shop -- smooth stuff out, remove the symbol in front, blend other stuff in, etc.

Many people might tell you to get the Evo 7 just because it has ACD/AYC... but after reading what Claudius had to say a while back, apparently ACD/AYC isn't all it's made out to be. AYC will offer more rear grip, which results in a certain amount of added understeer. ACD, from what I have gathered, dials in certain percentages of understeer... tarmac is "tuned" for mild understeer to (maybe) neutral, and then gravel & snow dial increasing amounts of understeer into the equation so that you don't spin the rear in slippery conditions. Claudius had indicated that anyone who races their Evos and/or anyone who is producing high boost, eventually breaks the fancy electronic stuff and replaces it with more durable mechanical diffs.

If you get the standard Lancer, you'll probably kick yourself in a few months because you didn't buy an Evo...

Think of it that way...

Another solution is to wait and test drive both the Lancer and the Evo 8.

Ye I kno they are not the same cars, Im saying what should I go fro, the great price and my prefered look, or the more powered with an o.k im my mind look.

Ye but the evo8 will be here in Jan. 04,

and about why I need 2 choose in 90 days, this is jus becuase tha oz will be replaced wiht the new lancer over here, and the new evo7 will be basically gone @ EI so they told me. (the evo8 does not apply to the 90 day thing really)

Max Rebo:
Thanks for the info, You helped me rule out the evo7 most likely.

Anymore thoughts from anyone else?

Evo 8. Best bang for the buck. I didnt like the fron end at first. After seeing it in person, and owning one. It grows on you real fast. Freaking luv the style now.

"I'm from canada, and they think I'm slow, eh"

i kid, I kid, I love canadia... EI EVOVII's are NOT legal in the US or canada.. They likey wont be for at least 90 days.. and thats just for US, I dont think there is even a petition to get them legalized in canada.

If all you want is a car that looks like the evo, get a regular lancer (not OZ) and put a kit on it.

If you want a fast car, great handling, and looks that will grow on you as they have everyone else (plus is more aerodynamic) wait for the evo8 to hit canada.

honestly from your sense of urgency, and your apparent belief that you wont find EI evos in 90 days, or even OZ rally's, you probably havent looked too much into all this, and I would reccomend you spend as little of your own (or your parents') $$ as possible on something you may later be dissapointed in.

you should have no trouble finding an OZ even a year from now.. But by then the ralliart lancer will be available, so who cares..

If you're not sure between an OZ Lancer and an EVO, then you should absolutely get the OZ. The EVO is not for everyone, and if you aren't used to the noise, rattling, and harshness of these cars then you won't be happy with one. The OZ Lancer is a fine car.

Also you won't really be able to just drop an engine from the EVO into the OZ. The drivetrain is totally different. I should say that you can, but it would be prohibitively expensive. However there are turbo kits out there for the Lancer that cost about $3k-4k. You could probably swing that...

What about this, I buy the OZ and I get the affordable price, buy the apex kit and get almost the look of the evo7, buy a turbo set and get a bit more speed, does that sound good to anyone?

The Evo8 and the Evo7 look the same from the inside and that's where you'll spend 99.5% of your time in the car. I would go for the Evo8 along with the performance. This car is not about looks. If you get a regular lancer and make it look like an Evo7, that's just plain silly.

That does NOT sound good to me!

The OZ is not the same car...its a body-shell look-alike... with a badge.

Either you don't have the cash for an Evo or you are on drugs. I thought I had it tough trying to decide between the Evo and the STi. Hmm, never, and I mean NEVER in my wildest dreams would I add the OZ as a viable option compared to the supercars the Evo7&8 are.

For you buy an OZ.
