Would you settle?
Would you settle?
I am looking for two specific colors in an 05 ssl however they are not close to me. I think I found some like 370+ miles from me. Now there are a few closer but not the color I want.
Can you have a near by dealer request these cars from far away to be delivered or would you settle or drive down to get the car. I am positive you would loose most of the negotiating power by requesting it and by driving a whole day down there to check it out. Any suggestions?
Thanks

have a buddy drive you to get it.
take the long way home and BAM! half your break in period is done.
make sure its the color you want before you drive to get it.
btw, what color?

okay, you loose negoitating power b/c the dealer doesn't have the car period.
I found this out when I was looking at the last of the 05's in stock. If a dealer doesn't have it, he has to trade his car(s) on his lot for the Evo you want, and when he plays with the number, he usually can't cut you a better deal than if he owned the car. It was alot easier when 05's were plentiful, b/c if he didn't have a EB, he can trade his TB for an EB straight up with another dealer...
now he has to give another dealer a Eclipse GS + cash for that EB you want...and the trades are not too fair most of the time. Plus he might figure he might have made a greater profit % off the Eclipse GS than that Evo off of you...and etc....so this barter is less cut and dry
everyone follow me? so you have to go to the dealer with the car to get the better deal.

I had a dealer sell me a EVO that they didnt have on the lot, and beat another dealer's deal on price (which DID have one on the lot). The dealer that sold me a red had to get it from New Hampshire AFTER I bought it, since they didnt have it on the lot. They also CANNOT get a car to bring to you to 'check out' until you have bought it, so take the drive out there yourself and see it, then work price with both dealers. I had mine delivered to me with 496 miles on it, but it was worth it for the deal and the color I wanted..

if you go to cars.com they can get you to a dealer near you that can get you the color that you want. i did that, had to drive an hr to the dealer. they tried to sell me the black and the silver one that they had on the lot but i wanted the EB. the dealer sent a flatbed tow truck and drove 2 hrs to a dealer to pick it up. as long as you dont give in and the dealer really wants to sell the car, they will go and pick it up for ya. keep us posted
