Hood Weight
Hood Weight
Okay.... I need to know what the stock hood weight is for the EVO and what the stock hood weight for the WRX is? My fiend test drove the WRX and he thinks that the hood is at least 5lbs lighter...
BTW - A typical Carbon Fiber Hoods weight is???

dont know which one is lighter, but to answer your question about carbon fiber hoods, dont get one, seriously, because in all likelihood you wont get a dry carbon fiber hood because they look very dull, and the glossy carbon fiber products are the same weight as aluminum, maybe like only a pound lighter which is so not worth it, theres this misconception that carbon fiber is always lighter than aluminum-this is not true, only dry carbon fiber is so dont even fret about it, if youre worried about weight and weight distrubution, do a search on maximizing weight loss, theres a couple of threads on it, remember the most important weight to lose is rotational mass and dead weight, the cf hood and trunk really dont do jack, its more of an aesthetic mod

wow, i didnt expect a 5lb difference, is that cf hood dry carbon fiber? anyway, even if there is a 5lb difference, cf hoods generally dont do it for me imo, i rather spend the money on some other mod for the car that would be more beneficial

basically, stock weighs so little, it's an insignificant performance mod now...I have mentioned the driver would be more at an advantage if he lost body weight instead.
