Evo 8 decision help....

I just got back from the dealership here and they are going to give me a TB evo 8 for 27.5k. The only thing is that the car had hail damage but has been fully repaired and they said warrantied. Also the car was driven to a car show and has 285 miles on it. What do you guys think, Is this car worth 27.5 k. Also 27.5 k is with 2000 in rebates so the rates are going to be something like 2.9 or more. Thanks for any advice.

We need more details. Is it SSL or not? I think you should get it for 27.5 BEFORE rebates. It's really used and has damage that will always stay with the car whether it's repaired or not. That never goes away.

Btw, how are you getting $2000 worth of rebates? Which ones are you getting combined?

I dont know. The manager was saying that if i do not take the financing option then he we take another 1000 in rebates off the 1000 they already had. So he said he was going to give me the car for 29.5k plus 2k rebates = 27.5k. And this is not the SSL evo. Just the normal GSR.

I don't think it's a good deal. You can get 05 SSL's with no miles and no hail damage for about 29.5 (before rebates).

I would only take an 05, hail-damaged, 285-mile, non-SSL Evo for around 27-28k. Then, take your rebates. IXs are out now...don't let them sucker you.

So you're saying that the only way you would but this car is if it was around 25-26k? I think that the 27.5 is a good deal depending on how much my interest rate is. I'm going to have my dad cosign with me and his credit is like rock solid. He got a 2003 nissan during the winter for around 3.9% apr. I'm hoping we can get something close to that with this car.

I know the 9's are out but I do not think anyone near minnesota is going to be selling this car for anywhere near invoice.

Why not? People have been paying less than invoice for months now...even before the IX came out. I can't imagine why a hail-damaged non-SSL would still be worth invoice after the new model year has been released. Remember that the moment you purchase it, you not only take the normal depreciation loss, your car becomes over a year old immediately, so you take a huge hit on value, which is why previous model years are supposed to be bought for much less than normal.

Is there something special about Minnesota that I'm not keen on?

No, not at all, because you aren't buying it for 27.5. You're buying it for 29.5 minus rebates that everyone gets. People were getting this price when there were no rebates, no miles, and no hail damage. Now, you're letting them use the rebates to make you pay more than you should...it's just hiding the price.

Thanks for the advise. After hearing what you had to say I called another dealership which had a silver evo with SSL for 30k which is around the price that the TB was but it had no hail damage and 68 miles. What do you guys think I should do?

ssl is the better deal, the hail damaged repaired car is only like 1500 off sticker and brother that is horrible on a 05 right now. the ssl car has a sticker of 34.4 and that is 4.4 off on a car that has not be repaired.

I thought the sticker for ssl was 31 or close to 32. 34 is more like the msrp because that's what was in the window.
