Handling problem on 05 Evo

My 05 EvoVIII has been feeling a lot less stable in right hand corners lately and yesterday while taking a favourite bend in the dry at only moderate speed the back end stepped right out on me and I nearly spun. The tire pressures are OK. Could I have an alignment problem? I do remember hitting a particularly nasty pothole recently but the car doesn't seem to pull to to either side. I am hoping this is something simple and not some wierd problem with the AWD or active differential. Any ideas anyone?

Stepped into some steep holes should not cause any mis-alignment for modern cars. Try the car out on some big commercial land in the back if there is any locally and see if you feel anything weird from the car.

Maybe your rear slipped because of some kind of slippy materials or fluids on there and you did not see?

My 04 RS did this awhile back. I hit a favorite right hander, and the car stepped sideways quickly, but it quickly recovered with no problem. I think it was something on the pavement I didn't see. Since I don't have an ACD, that's one thing it might not be in your case.

BTW, my car doesn't feel any less stable. That was a surprise that one time to have that happen.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to the Skyline R33. If they were in a hard left hand turn the ECU would glitch and make the rear end swing out. It is very well documented in the Skyline community! Sport Compact Car even had issues with it during one of thier Ultimate Sports Car Comps...

I hope that this isn't the issue because there was no cure for the R33 and it wasn't a problem with every one of them either.

Man, I was thinking about getting an 05' too.... I'll just have to wait a couple years after the EVO X.

Thanks for all the responses. Its disturbing to have my confidence in the car's handling shaken. It used to feel so rock solid. this wasn't just an isolated incident though t.he car just does not feel good in right handers. Will definitely get alignment checked

if u let off the gas during your turn in, the car will have the tendency to oversteer depending on how u entered that turn.
