thanks
funny you ask that question, the power FC is actually for the evo7 and to use it in an evo8 you need a conversion harness.

We use this in the Skyline we have here with great results and it might be going in the 2 evos we have here also.

The PowerFC has been around for a while now. It's not new technology or anything, but I'm sure glad more tuners are looking into it.

Guru is a Power Excel dealer and is very knowledgeable when it comes to the PFC & the Evo. Maybe he can chime in here and shed some more info on the unit. There's also some excellent information in the Power FC forum.

I can't wait to get mine

Currently I'm running a Klavico 3.5 bar map so I can tune my Power FC to 36psi. I tried installing a 5 bar map sensor but I can't get it dialed in correctly with the datalogit.

the harness for the JDM evo7 and usdm Evo 8 should be the same.. just it wouldn't fit the JDM evo8 MR .

Keith,

Thanks for changing the subject, I must have hit the wrong shortcut button. I appreciate you doing it for me.

11secEVO7,

Yes, I can for sure get the Power FC for your car. It is listed in the catalog. The prices are the same as I posted above.

Purgeit,

I am also an HKS Pro Dealer and we install and tune the V Pro's. I have used the A/F Knock Amp. Even with the knock amp there is no provision for pulling timing/knock control.

well we just got a kit in for an evo8 and it came with a evo7-evo8 conversion harness so I assume you need it for the evo8. But we also were selling it to a guy in pakistan so maybe he has a JDM evo8 and its different. I'm not 100% sure either way

ok I just checked it, the Power FC has 4 female plugs. The harness we got has 4 male plugs and 3 female plugs. Its for a customer with a JDM evo 7/8. I assume the JDM evo's only have 3 plugs so Apexi makes a conversion harness so they can use it also.

sorry for the mixup

I've used the Power FC on my RX7 since 2001. Great piece. I'd like a hair more resolution (it's 20x20 for the RX7) and it won't relinquish full control over idle, even with a Datalogit. The Datalogit guys are great, but they didn't fully understand how the PFC works when they created the program.

David, would you all be able to have "mail order" tunes for say a turbo-back exhaust, 93 octane and manual boost controller to use with the PFC on say an 05 or 03+? I know it wouldn't be exact, but it'd be ballpark. Personally I'd just need the timing set as I have no experience with the Evo's requirements. Fuel is as simple as pie. How much additional?

thanks...i'll definitely be interested if you get through with apexi so that over 30psi is possible and easy to handle.
if it's just a software upgrade then i can always get it sometime down the road. Please let me know so I will know if to take it now or to wait. thanks

The Datalogit or the PowerExcel software allows you to "expand" the PSI range as high as you like assuming you utilize a MAP sensor capable of reading that high (what's the stock Evo sensor's limit?). You're not able to expand the actual cell count so you loose a bit of resolution somewhere, either in the vacuum range or in bigger boost increments between cells.

According to the Guru if you get a Evo 7 Power FC and use it for the US spec Evo 8 your a/c will not work. Regardless of harness or not your a/c wont work and you will need to relay your fuel pump wire just to start your engine. To be safe I would just get the correct Power FC for the Evo model. I had to learn the hard way
