EVO 9 Driving Impression? New IX owners?

So for those few lucky souls out there with the new IX, what is your driving impression of it? If you have driven an 8 before, how does it compare? Thanks.

Quick comparison. I got an 8 in March 03 when they first came out. As far as mods, I had a boost controller set at 20 with a dynoflash and K&N drop-in filter. Right off the bat I can tell you the IX feels stronger and faster. I haven't gotten past 5K rpm (<100 mi so far), so I can't speak for up top. It pulls harder from about 3200. It rides a little better, not quite as choppy as the 8. The exhasut note is a little deeper and more agressive sounding. You can kinda hear mivec while droning down the road (at about 70 mph/3000 rpm), but is doesn't sound bad at all. Hope this helps

I picked up an mr last week and am very pleased with it so far. I cannot believe how quick this little 2.0l car is. I have driven an evo 8 for a few miles so cannot really tell the differences, but I can tell you that I am surprised. I am surprised that the car is able to hang with performance vehicles like s4 and m3 for a fraction of the cost. I am also surprised that the car is built as well as it it. My father-in-law is importing a Lancia Integrale this fall from Italy and can tell you that they are very similar. I have driven that car in Italy and it was built like crap compared to the evo. I cannot wait for the break in period to be over as it is then, and only then I can see what this thing has.

Pete

when i first picked up my Evo 8, i was impressed with i got for 30K. when i picked up my Evo 9, i said to myself, holy s***. i can say without a doubt that the Evo 9 is definitely better in power and handling. i've pulled the new Evo 9 up to 140+ mph in 5th gear and was extremely impressed with the smooth powerband. Warning - if you have an Evo 8 and you test drive the Evo 9, you are gonna buy it.

so what makes the handling of evo 9 better than the 8? your imagnation? fyi: the 05 evo and 9 made the same hp on the dyno.

If your talking about the buscher dyno, remember that the IX's he tested were NOT broken in yet and the graph definately showed that they made power sooner.

Switzer just strapped a IX to a dynojet dyno and made 276AWHP. That is a huge increase from what stock VIII's were dynoing if you ask me.
