Congrats, Jedinite, and thanks for the review thus far. Looking forward to another one once you are through with break-in, it's going to be some fun reading!

hey jotan82
I noticed your statement about EVO 7 taillights . From the looks of it I think the original SOHC Lancer's taillights can fit EVO 8. Can anyone confirm this, since I don't think those stock Altezza lights look good for some reason they stick out like a sore thumb. I'll place an order with dealer for a set of those taillights before I get my EVO 8.

The Evo's tails do not fit in the OZ. There are a few pics running around that clearly show they are different shaped.

I'm glad they don't fit! If they were a direct swap to the regular Lancer, some Lancer owners would be tempted to steal em from the Evo's....

SC~who's glad the front clusters won't fit regular Lancers either.

Ive been sensing much dissension between lancer and lancer evo owners. Our regular lancers may not be near supercar status like the evo but they are still nice cars, why put down the lancer... when your car is the lancer evo...

Congrats!

I agree with your performance observations. The quick steering and AWD definitely sets this car apart from the vast majority. I've had the rear-end get "happy" during a quick takeoff, in a turn on wet pavement, and it can be very easy to over-correct. Just a slight tug on the wheel shot me in the right direction. The limited slip in back is VERY helpful, and works flawlessly. Compared to my Civic, the EVO loves to suck the gas right down. I'm on my 6th tank of gas in 1200 miles - I can live with that - a small price to pay for having the perfect car

I also agree with your interior observations. The controls are well-placed, and the Recaros really do their job comfortably. What I can't get over is how smooth the ride is compared with cars that don't even come close to the E8's handling. BTW, I love the yellow You can really see the lines.

Enjoy the new ride!
