Exclamation

The G35 just turn into a has been, thank you GT-R, . Anyways, vettes are... well, vettes. I don't like american cars, and while I give credit were credit is due, I would never purchase a vette. I rather buy a GT-R over a vette, even if it cost 10-15k+ more. The skyline is a symbol and the GT-R will still hold the same light. If nissan is smart, they will make different models, maybe a all motor version, single turbo and than the $$$ twin turbo version.

I agree. Some might call it stupid... I call it the truth. I rather own a R34 GT-R over these cars aswell.

I have always been a fan of the Nissan Skyline...But i disagree that this car will own other street cars...I know it's powerful and all but there are other cars out there that can still hang...besides that...I like the new look and i think this will be a great addition to the line up of cars we recieve in the U.S....just my thoughts...

Know your info please.....

I'll believe it only when I see the press release from Nissan/Infiniti.

Where in the article on the link does it confirm that it will be in the states?

Wow a skyline, big deal, try rallying that.

My kids would hate squeezing in to the back through those loooong two doors.

For that kind of money I would sacrafice just a little acceleration for some european engineering.

the most reason why I love GT-R so much is .... its so much fun to drive a bone stock monster and its VERY EASY to mod over 500whp (VERY VERY EASY like the old R32 and R33 also Z32). and the reason why not GT-R in rally... I believe its due to some limitation .... the 96, 97, Toyota Celica GT-4 was suspend from WRC because of the regulation (cant quite remember the whole thing, think was the twin entry turbo problem?anyone recall it?)

and for those of you always looking for best BOV sounds ... I say GT-R has the best BOV sound ever IMO but well DMV is going to love you too

I believe that Toyota had a misunderstanding of the rules (read: tried to cheat; something like a secondary inlet port on the turbo that bypassed the restricter plate) and was asked to leave WRC.

As for the G35 not being a good skyline: The GTR gets all the press in the US, but there have been dozens of Skyline models over the years. Some with 2 doors, some with 4. Some with one turbo, some with no turbo. AWD and RWD. A bunch of different motors etc. All the G35s, while not a GTR, are right at home as a Skyline.

As for that thing being anywhere NEAR $40k, you're dreaming! Hell, a 300zx was about that much 10 years ago. It wouldn't suprise me if it was twice that. Here's my best guess what Nissan is going to do with it in the US. They'll badge it as an Infinity and put it up against the big german names (Porsche 997 and M3/M6 BWM). With "only" a V6, I don't think they'll aim at a vette or Viper, even though they might be able to compete performance wise. I just don't think it's the market they'll shoot for.

Something to keep in mind though is that this car could really help the high end Japanese sports car market. If it's a good car and does well, it could help push the next gen supra and NSX replacement to the forefront.

+1 true and if this happens then the sports car markets in US will be crashed soon especially the used market ... you know been years US 2nd owner cars are WAY WAY WAY expensive than it should. So once we have more choices than the price will go down for sure

BTW I never said GT-R will be 40k .. I think it is more like 70k like R33 ... and yes Skylines have many models like GTS25T (2.5L single turbo RWD) GT4(92' single turbo AWD) and also GTE(none turbo for your Mom) some are 2 doors some are 4 doors ....
Funny thing is.......at the early age in Japan, car companies always mixed up their own model .... like Nissan 180SX which is S13 which also has 3 different body style, and Toyota AE86 Trueno also has Levin type ..... it is CONFUSING ~~~

just hope there will be more JDM import cars such as S15...

It's weird, I like the styling from some angles, and at certain angles it looks like crap. Either way, it's far out of the EVO class, 2.5x the price of an evo...

I like the R34 better, here's a yellow one from japan in 2003 just strolling along.

I would not be surprised if the new Skyline ran a high 12 quarter mile, not the 11/low 12 people are claiming. Even if it does have 450hp stock, that will be rated at the crank from the factory and if it is anything like the 350z or g35, it will be heavy as crap too.....Anyway though, it is a sweet car, I am glad Nissan finally decided to bring it over to the states.
