new record

Yea i hope i wont get flamed to much, but i set a new record for driving with my stock bov on backwords for around 2.5 months. Today i finally got tired of that flutter sound which i thought was normal but to loud for stock,( from all the things i read about dropping in a k&n u can hear your bov a tad). I put it on how its suppose to be (took me about 25 min) and took it for a test drive.

Well i definatly noticed a difference in acceleration, flutter is gone, my guess is i was leakin about 2-5 psi, could be way off becuase im still new to turbo cars. My question is did i damage anything over that period of time?...

wow still cant beleive i did that

No sweat, man. At least you figured it out on your own and fixed it. That had to feel good at least. There should be no damage, so don't worry about it.

Suggestions for the future would be to come to EvoM right away when something weird like that happens and SEARCH for others who have had the same problem. We just had a thread recently, and have had MANY over the years, where someone experienced the exact same problem, and within minutes, there were about 10 responses all telling him the same thing: the BOV was installed backwards. He got the responses and fixed it right away.

I've heard of that happening before. Don't know what damage it could have done but Its understandable.

I did it a while ago just once, the car felt stonger because it was holding the boost. The bad thing is that it gave me a terrible boost spike all the time, so i put it back right away.

I dont think you did, dont worry about it. I didnt like the flutter at all, the rpms took longer to come down and the car felt like it wanted to stall. I did it bc when i used to have a GTI 1.8, it was pretty much the same diverter valve and by putting it backwards it held the boost all the way to redline, but it didnt have any of these effects associated with it. Just run it normal for now and then get a good BOV like a Forger or HKS
