All the media press I've read suggests your right. The IX will only last one year.

I'm just going back and forth whether or not to buy one.

So anyone know?

The X will be out later next year. If I was in the market for a new EVO I would wait. From what I have read it is going to be a whole new car. The paddle shifting option is pretty damn cool in my book. A friend of mine just bought an Audi A3 with paddle shifting ability. It is fun to say the least.

My guess is that the Evo X comes out in 2007, but not replaces the IX like it did with the VIII. Since the whole car is new, some people might be disapointed. My guess is therefore, that the IX continues in production until 2008 maybe, and runs side by side with the X.

You're serious? I can't imagine marketing and selling both the IX and X at the same time...

yeah the doesnt make sense to me either. not unless their gonna do it like the subies do. as in having the WRX and STi. so the IX will be the lil brother and the X will be the big brother.

I'm fairly sure the Evo X will be out in 07. Tier 2 emissions goes into effect then. Hence Mitsu doing away with the 4G63 and putting MIVEC onto the IX. I don't see the 4G63 making the cut as far as Tier 2 emissions goes. A lot of people ask "Why mess with success?" regarding the Evo X's new engine, well there's your reason why: emissions.

don't worry about it... you seem like a pretty good kid. at 16 you're more mature than a lot of adults that post on here.
Thanks Dude

Right, I mean, why not? Hardcore 4G63 Japanese car fans would be devastated by the X. Paddle shift gearbox, new engine and a completly new design. And it's really a Chrysler. Mitsubishi is in deep trouble, really, so they must keep their fans.

I bet the emissions have been bettered since the 4G63 came out in 1983.

Probably 2 years is my guess

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=106755

According to Mitsu's exec vp of sales and marketing:
"The last of the new products are a redesigned Lancer compact in calendar 2007 and, for model-year 2008, a brand-new Lancer Evo X, which Schembri describes as revolutionary."

If the Evo X debuts as model year 08 (meaning it probably won't go on sale until summer 07 at the earliest), I doubt they would stop selling the IX for a year in the meantime. That implies to me that the IX will be available for model years 06-07.
