Why is there such a lack of interest for the IX?
All I know is, after talking with Nick #2 at Precision Dyno, I'm almost set on getting an EVO 9 if my DSMs dont sell within the next 2 months. I just like the MIVEC setup and the new interior along with the new bumpers.
Just a couple of updates on the IX-
AMS recently tested a bone stock IX and it put down 260-265WHP AWD Dyno Jet. Then again a couple of 05 VIIIs have also posted similiar numbers.
Vishnu recently tested a bone stock IX and it put down 238WHP on their DD, which is a low reading dyno. Normal stock VIIIs lay down anywhere from 205-215WHP on this DD. Higher reading VIIIs have made around 225WHP.
Evom.net member MR. SNOW recently ran a bone stock EVO IX in the 1/4 Mile-
60' 1.826
1/8 8.335
MPH 82.11
1/4 12.987
@ 105.78 MPH
Vishnu is currently working on a flash for the IX and will report the results in the near future.
Evom.net member fromWRXtoEVO is planning to race a IX today (in the 1/4 mile) and will report results later today or tonight.

Since the car shares a lot of parts in the old, one I don't see why their should all of a sudden a glut of IX specific parts on the market to show support. Maybe it takes a little longer to develop cams and MIVEC specific tuning.
I think that the Evo 9 is not getting the hype the 8 did because of the changes you guys are talking about. It wasn't broken and they tried to fix it. There is no possible way to improve the looks, and the engine and drivetrain are virtually the same. Mitsu is just trying to sell cars and create controversy and it works. The 9 and then the X will just make evo 8 owners look better, The 8 is the best looking evo ever.
you guys know what you got into when you bought the 9 and thats the waiting game. i bought my 8 MR knowing the 9 was going to be out 4 months after b/c of the plans that i have for it. When i bought my '03 back in...'03 i was waiting for ever for new, good priced mods coming out. but the day will come, the mods will be out soon enough.

all of you guys need to get ahold of the guys who are doing the work. its a lot of money to find a car and tune it, if a customer doesnt get ahold of you. you cant expect vishnu, buschar, and the rest to purchase their own cars, instead, they are just waiting to get them in. so get off your butts guys and bring them in. that way, there will be more interest
time and money...it's going to take time to learn the specifics of tuning with mivec(like TEXSRT4 said they need a customer to supply the car) Money b/c tuners like Buschar and Vishnu can't afford to buy a new car every year, they are in the business of making money not wasting it, not to mention there are a hell of alot more VIII 's out there than IX's, so from a business standpoint it's not that rewarding being that the IX will only last 1 model year.
EVO IX done!
WORKS does not share that lack of enthusiasm.
Currently,WORKS has everything for the Evo IX right now and we are tuning customer IX's as we speak. We were the first tuner in the states to receive a IX ECU for R'nD in July 2005. And we are pleased to announce that the WORKS P2 Brainflash for the IX- Mivec is now available. Engine, Suspension, Drivetrain, Brakes and other systems are shared with the Evo VIII and are also available now. We are working on our 269 cams and should have them available in the first qtr of 2006.

See this is the problem right here. It takes time to develop quality stage kits/ performance upgrades. People in the US market are in such a rush, this is why sub par parts are released by tuners, because people will not give them the time the Japanese and European consumers do. The car has been out 2 months in the US market, if you installed a stage kit that was throw together by a tuner that quickly onto your vehicle you have major issues.
