I still have no front plate. I asked them not to put it on. No problems yet here in Cali.

Last Saturday I mounted my plate. I really didn't want to drill holes on my brand new car and I wanted to keep it out of the path of the intercooler. This is what I came up with:

Its very simple, nothing fancy. I made the brackets by taking 1 inch wide pieces of sheet metal and bending them in the right places. I also bent the bottom inch of the plate back to make it a bit smaller. The brackets are taped to the underside bumper using double sided tape follwed up with some very sticky black vinyl

would this affect performance at all??

i don't think it would...

but thats about the best install i've seen for a front plate install in slightly obstructing a intercooler

Just wondering, and this is a little off topic, but for the states that require a license plate in the front (such as California), does putting the license plate on your dash board in your car still count?

Bah front plates... i just lost my license for getting 24 points of ONLY front plate tickets (8 tickets) over the coarse of 2 months (not a single other violation).. Lost the license for 6 months, Need to take defensive driving coarse (WTF?) and need high risk driver insurance on my license (sr-22) for 3 years making my insurance cost $5760/year... It's amazing what they can do... really.

Your lucky if you can drive everyday and not get bothered.

i realize when sometimes you just don't parts of a law that mandates something that you don't want to do like front license plates but honestly....?

8 tickets for front license plates? if this were to happen to me, i would probably stick till the 2nd or 3rd ticket and finally say **** it, i'll put them up

its not worth the price your paying now IMO

i'll pick my battles

I understand and agree..I actually lost the plate in a storm and didn't order a new one right away. The way I was thinking was hey, it's only $40- a pop and I can't use the factory bracket anymore, so I tried to tough it out.. Little did i know it was the same as a 0-25 over the speed limit ticket... live and learn

In Texas, its a non moving violation for no front plate, so no points are given for that ticket. You can't lose your license for no plate. NH is rough!

Still don't know what to do, try to plug it or get a new bumper or just go with the ugly *** front plate.

I'm still confused as to why people are needing to drill multiple holes. Techincally only 1 hole is needed to drill to mount the bottom of the bracket in place. If you use a nice piece of double sided tape no holes are required to mount the third mounting location on the bracket.

I would just put the plate on. I ran for a year with no front plate then with in two weeks I got a warning (second warning different cop) and next (different city and cop) got a ticket no points but still a $80 fine.

The mounting may be different on the IX's than it is on the VIII's due to the different front bumper.
