Why would you want to be a regular lancer winshield.. which will add significant weight to the front end of a front heavy car on the evo.. just get a plug kit and wait for a real evo windshield.

when i got my windshield replaced they said that the only difference was the tint strip at the top. i ended up getting the evo windshield due to insurance paying but they said that either would fit.

No! It's only the side and back windows that are lighter. I have a crack in my 05 MR's front W/S with only 2200 miles on it.
But I still am going to get an OEM EVO windshield for my car.

sorry if i was misinformed
who is a super moderator and very rarely wrong... if he is
but ive also read....the EVO glass is not any lighter than a regular lancer's windsheild. Windshields are regulated to be a certain weight/thickness for crash test results and have to comply to it.
so Mr. Silka certified auto glass tech and member of PPG Prostars, dont just tell us its crap... enlighten us

Well, I'd like to retract my previous statement!! LOL
The guy came today to replace my windshield only to find out that he didn't get the right one.
The lady that called me back from the glass company said that EVO windshields are only produced by Mitsubishi because it is a specially formulated glass and was designed specifically for the EVO. Mitsubishi will not release the glass pattern and formula so that other glass manufacturers can produce the windshield.
I was told Mitsubishi only makes (or distributes) 10 windshields per month. Seeing as how it's November and I got slotted in at #19 on "the list" I wont get a new windshield until end of December/Beginning of January.
Poo!!!

listen, Mitsu does not make their own glass... they sub it out to companies like PPG and LOF... all PPG and LOF do is stamp the
on it and hand it over to the Mitsu factory which then, they either 1: put it in a new car or 2: sell it to Joe Blow for 500% markup...i checked earlier and our system does pull up a part number for the evo, which means that someone, somewhere makes the correct windshield for the EVO... we've done several regular Lancers and a couple Evos before... yes, there is a price difference between the 2 windshields because of the availability and the rear view mirror bracket, but thats it! one is not "lighter" than the other nor is one "thicker"...
remember who you get your info from... just cause a service writer from Mitsu told you that doesn't mean it's true.. how many windshields have they changed?
any questions, pm me...
