I would say half of their cost was labor. If you do it yourself, it's obviously cheaper - I would say half. I don't know how your still on stock advans if you drive the evo hard. The advans should last about a year at about 1000 a set. That alone works out to almost 100$ a month. Four oil changes would cost you about another 100$ a year. Replace brake pads adds up too. So a do it yourself deal is getting close to 150$ a month. Unless you granny it, drive less than average.

I finally killed my stock brake pads at a track day, otherwise they would be fine. 30$ a month isn't exactly killer. Mobil 1 is 25$ at WalMart and a Mitsu Oil Filter is 5-6$. I also changed my tranny fluid, that was a whopping 18$ and 5 minutes of my time.

Not sure where they get these figures from.

You guys must not own Porsche's cause the prices you guys have quoted are peanuts compared to Porsche maintenance. Try $150 for an oil change for a 997. It uses 10 quarts of 0W-40 Mobil One! And tires? Try finding 19" Michelin PS2 in stock to even buy at an inflated price. I guess everything is relative. But $25/oil change doesn't seem to outrageous.

An EVO is an enthusiast's car. You seek for a car like an EVO, not stumble upon it. Judging by your post, it doesn't sound like an EVO is for you. Owning an EVO is like owning a Corvette (not comparing performance or quality). Everything is going to be more expensive dealing with a high strung car. You'll find yourself spending a lot more than a car payment and insurance every few months. Suspension is extremely stiff for daily driving (not me, but for others).

sounds like its nearly time for your advans to come off. tell us about how much you pay for your new crappy tires or your bad@ss expensive new advans when you put them on.

i just bought a set of 4 from another member here for 760 shipped.

spending that much on tires in only 15k miles is no joke. its a maintanence money pit. you'll understand later.

I run a set of junker all-season on my stock wheels for daily driving and have R-Compounds for the track. No reason to run A046s in the street, especially when they can only be on for a few months out of the year in my area. The A046s are nice but they don't do much good on the track. I sold my A046s to fund my R-Compounds

there is nothing wrong with using an evo as a daily driver, even moded ones. im sure 90 percent of us with evos on this site its their only car or maybe they have a winter beater at the most. just because its a high performance car doesnt mean it cant take the stress of daily life. but please do us all a favor if youre mods are going to be "rims" and a bov get a civic

i personally like my evo as a dd better then any car i've had. i find the seats very comfortable. i find shifting and clutching easy. no blind spots. i think 22 mpg is good enough. i don't care about cruise control b/c i dirve in chicago traffic everday. i like the noises of my car so don't mind the sound, and i even have an RS. the ride is harsh though (all seasons or winter tires help). i like it the best out of all my former cars b/c it does everything i want it to do. response is great, braking is great, acelleration is great. all are very advantageous driving in traffic everyday. if i want to pass soemone i will, if i want to chage lanes quickly i will. if i want to get ahead of some people driving slow i will. i have avoided accidents b/c of my evo. awd>snow. and i get to my destination much quicker. it is expensive to maintain, but it's just money. and if you have an evo, you should be able to say that. if money is so tight you can't afford to get the best services for her, then don't get one.
