Miami Evos

OK , just got back from Kendall Mitsubishi, where they received 12 Evos today. I saw 2 black, 3 silver , 5 yellows, 1 red.
I test drove a black one.

My Impressions:
The car looks beautiful in person. Tastefully agressive.
The recaros are awsone and hugs just right.
Besides the steering and the seats, the rest of the interior is fairly typical jap-econo
The car is spacious and comfortable for 4-5 people. Big trunk.

The Drive:
Unfortunately, I got there after dark and did a run on unfamiliar roads, and caught every red light possible. My sales person was a nice guy, but a bit paranoid during the test drive. Consequently RPM was kept below 5000, and I did not get to throw it into the corners like I normally would. (I guess I'll have to do another test drive again soon.)

The steering will take a little getting used to. Small inputs can bring about sharper than expected changes, but generally seems nothing to worry about. The car feels light and responsive but solidly planted and sure footed.

The turbo kicks in nicely at 3000 RPM and feels like you are being pulled by an aircraft catapult. Definately a cut above the WRX (which I personally found rather disappointing. ) But I feel like this car begs to be tuned to bring out its potential. There is no way I could leave it stock for long.

Lows:
very little luxury for a car over 30G.
Still feels a little like a 4 cyl econobox.
ie: might not compensate if you are accustomed to the more linear pull of a 6 cyl (unless you tune it that is )

Price:
Premium is $10,000
Sticker $40,000.
Actual settlement price $35,000.

I refused to pay over MSRP, and was given a full refund of deposit without hessitation. I understand that the first batch will likely go at a premium. But this car still has an econo-box feel about it and really is not worth a penny over MSRP, so prices will surely come down before long.

Overall a pleasant experience shopping at Kendall Mitsubishi. If I had to pick one up I would have no problem dealing with them again once the rush settles and prices come down to earth.

Hey Jonasan - no, I did not buy it. Their best price was $35,000. and it is not worth that price to me.

I've driven/tested so many cars that I'm comparing all the options I can buy with $37.5G of my hard earned money (35G + tax) and the Evo is not worth that price to me.

My personal value on the Evo after seeing and driving it, is actually closer to $25G. So I might actually pass on it altogether. For now at least.
