Great...
Based on some of your numbers, I think they are quoting Lancer and absolutely not the Evo. I would get it for one full year before they hammer you with a revised quote at 5 times the amount.

Oh dear... He is 21 and 2 tickets... I see.
Geezzzz
Anyhow, 6k/year is consider a regular car payment for many (including myself) and way too much money for insurance.

6k, could be many factors. I know a few years ago when i was looking into a Honda Prelude SH, they quoted me at 5785. That was with 4 pts. Although in other news, i drive a 95 grand prix and i use to pay 2200, now its down to about 1050. Depends on area too.

taiwan: As I posted before, they quoted me as a normal lancer, but then marked it as high perofmrance as well. The payment was about $150 more a year than my old Subaru 2.5RS.

Thanks for the input everyone. It doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it would to insure this baby

Just maybe a shiny new Evo in my driveway after all...

for comparison's sake, the evo is costing me about $200 less per year than an 03 wrx would.

I just got my insurance quoted.. approx $1800 a year.. Not too bad, but a big chunk to get hit with $900 every six months.. Considering I already have other cars on my policy.. The neon is history, and the malibu is getting collector car insurance at a much lower rate... otherwise the three cars would cost me about 3k a year.. thats STEEEP for me.. Just for comparison's sake, my Camaro was $1200 a year, and my Corvette was $1600 a year.. so I think my insurance company figured this car out already.

I guy at the dealership tonight was telling me about a 20 year old kid who came in to buy a used '99 Tahoe and when he tried to get insurance they quoted him $1000 up front and $600/month all because of his driving record.

I guess that only proves that if you have enough cash, any joker can get on the road.. I'd be a bit scared to ride anywhere near someone with insurance rates THAT high..

its almost cheaper to put 100,000+ into escrow and 'self insure' against liability.. of course, the hardcore collectors and the rich do that.. Insurance really is only to provide financial compensation should something happen.. if you can legally prove you can do that (money in escrow specifically to be disbursed in case of an accident) that is your "insurance" LOL I'm rambling like a lawyer.. someone smack me and put me in an EVO, I think I blew a fuse..
