muellerized buddy club vs Zeals v6

I am in the market for some coilovers. My car is used 50% daily driving and the other 50% track. I am hearing good things about both set-ups. What do people think about each set-ups.

thanks

I would usually say zeal all the way (a lot more advance IMO), but if you can get mueller to set it up for you, go with the buddy clubs.

The set-up is seriously the most important thing when it comes to suspension.

If I get the Zeals I will probably have works set it up for me. Thats about 3Grand almost. The buddy clubs might be cheaper, but I still drive my car on a regular basis so I cant decide yet.

If you are confident in Works (they never sell a bad product IMO) abilities to set-up the Zeals, I would definitely go with them over buddyclubs just because everyone raves about the amazing valving on the Zeals. Don't cheap out on coilovers, just check the "handling for sale" section and you'll see how many "budget coilovers" are for sale.

Nothing against Mueller, I really like what he has accomplished, but the Zeals are just on top of my wish list now. I see the buddy clubs as more of any entry-level harsher race set-up. The Zeals are just as good while not breaking your back everyday.

Just my $.02, I don't have coilovers yet but this is what I have gathered so far.

if it's 50% track then definitely go with John Muellers recommendation and setup. If you don't want buddy clubs then he can set up any suspension you want. He does offer other brands.

I have his Buddy club and couldn't be more happier. Keep in mind that for less than the price of the zeal, you'll get coilovers, rear sway bar, rear end links, etc.

Read reviews on the Mueller's buddy clubs as quite a few have posted our impressions. Overall the ride quality is way better than stock 03 suspension and he'll set it up based on your preference. He has a questionnaire that you have to fill out. The car is way faster in turns, very neutral which results in a lot higher straight way speed. I was on stock tires with Ferodo DS2500 pads and boiled fluid (so pad fade and spongy brakes) and i was still trapping over 8mph faster at the end of the back straight at Gingerman Raceway. I'm sure your results will be even faster if you're a better driver (i'm about intermediate) and given your car will see a lot more track time than me...you may end up getting a more agressive set up from him

I'm not that easy to please but his customer service is absolutely outstanding. He remembers you by name and is always available to answer questions and stands by his products!!! How many vendors do you know who actually remember all the customers they deal with.

John's a stand up guy and if i was in Cali i'd get all my work done at RRE.

How much was the setup if you dont mind me asking. I heard people were spending about $2300 for their setups but I didn't know it came with a swaybar and rear endlinks.

Yeah, dont forget Mueller does alot more than Buddy Clubs. He can setup anything. i watched him CUSTOM BUILD a set of coilovers once by using pieces and parts of different suspension systems.

If you think Buddy Clubs are too cheapy (you wouldnt if you have ridden in one of his cars), go for the Ohlins or Motons then. http://www.muellerized.com/products.html

I can guarantee that 95% of Evo drivers would still not be able to fully take advantage of the Buddy Clubs. Its not what is better but what fits your driving style and budget. Unless you track quite often there is no need to go beyond the buddy clubs or JIC(a little more aggresive.)

I can only tell you guys what i paid for the set up but is no guaranty that you will get the same price. Search for posts by John and i think he does list the prices.

i paid somewhere b/w 22-2300 for coilovers, sway bar and rear end links

I want to make you guys aware that Function V6 has been discontinued. If you are looking for a 50% track setup then I would highly recommend Function X with individual compression and rebound adjustable.

I have our custom Zeal V6 with 12/10 springs and I couldn't be any happier with my current setup. The car handles very neutral at the track with a 24mm rear sway.

Thanks,
Tom

I have the Muellerized JIC coil-over and rear swaybar set-up, tuned by John, and I am very happy with it. Car is for 90% track use, if you count the miles back and forth from the track and to the RRC racing shop for maintenance, etc. as part of the "track use."

Iv taken a ride with both of your choices and the answer is muellerized hands down..the zeals do not impress me at all. Its all about the setup, and those coilovers are setup for your car and your driving prefrence.. far superior to anything out of the box.
