What made you decide?

So what made you decide to get an Evo or when did you know it was a keeper? Sorry for such a generic question, I'm sure it has been covered many times, but I searched and didn't yield any results. So was it the styling, the specs, someone taking you for a ride? What other cars were you looking at the time you went to buy it?

I bought my STi because my family has had a few Subarus, I even learned to drive on one. So naturally I wanted a STi, and which is why I have the ever-so popular blue on gold (although I think white on gold would have been a better choice). After researching the two more extensively, I knew the STi wasn't as "mod-friendly", but I wasn't looking to turn it into a track car. I wanted a daily driven weekend warrior, and the STi is a little softer, has cruise control (although no sunroof) and interior has a better fit and finish. Some more reasons I went with the Suby: it's just as fun as the Evo, I knew too many Evo owners, but no STi owners, and Subaru is known for their safety and reliability. Also, the salesman at the Mitsubishi dealership I went to probably thought I was joking about buying a new car, so he blew me off. I had to wait 30 minutes just to get someone to talk to me and after an hour and a half of waiting for a test drive, I said "F IT" and left. :END RANT: That really spoiled my shopping experience. But I have driven a few Evos, but still have yet to drive a stock one.

But, I know the Evo is a better starting point for a track car, so I want to buy a used RS sometime in the future. So that's why I'm here, to learn from the gurus and learn as much as I can about the car.

Hmm, it is kind of a weird story, but I first found out that I wanted an evo 2 years ago when I was talking to my dad. For some reason he insisted that a 4 door car would be 10 times safer and more practical. Practical yes, but I still don't consider a 4 door car being any safer than a 2 door car. Anyway, I began to research fast, sporty cars that were 4 doors, and I came across the evo. I read about the heritage and the performance, and I was hooked.

I was in the market for these cars 2 years ago. The subie folks wanted 35k for the STI and I got the evo for 28k. If I had known I was going to be addicted to the track I would have gone for the RS they were only asking 25k for one. I decided mainly because of the price.

I wanted a white STi at first. I was workign for subaru at the time too. But knowing the history of the 4g63 I picked the evo. When i made my first 11 second pass i knew my car was a keeper!

i need four doors, and awd for the winter over here. so it was either an evo, or wrx/sti. i drove both and researched on both and found that it was cheaper and easier to make the evo fast, so thats why i bought it!

I've owned DSM, Mustangs, a FD, and was looking for something new. I was real close to buying a used viper or a 03' Z06, but my heart is in a 4g63....even though parts of me are already starting to wish that I bought the viper or the Z06 and it's only been 9 days. I bought a 05' on 11/5.

After blowing many TC's, axles, and rear diffs in my DSM's and reading how much more durable the EVO diff's are etc. I thought that it would bother me much, but I'm already very concerned about launching the car.

Still happy.......just second guessing...I guess?

After the first test drive.

I was like WTF, Is this car legal.

Was I actually considering a Mustang. I had no Idea a car like the evo existed. My dumb a** was waiting for a flying car. The Evo is like flying on the road.

Back when i was a kid, or just younger. I wanted an evo vii but we had none . Then I heard they mitsu was going to sell lancers, I read about it and it was only the oz rally . Then they answered my prayers by bringing out the evo viii .

I was actually considering many cars before the evo( because of price ) but then test drove an evo and thought about nothing else but the evo. Cars i considered: integra-building it and boosting, mr2- turbo, wrx, prelude- built and boost, 240, and many others i cant think of.

I drive curvy mountain roads daily at 70 mph - the steering and AWD on the Evo are IT!

I was going to buy the honda s2k, but I needed a back seat. A test drive is all it took to sell me on the evo. I still think the s2k was more fun to drive fast. Better seating position, great handling and that engine would scream. The evo's engine sounds like *** compared to the engine in the s2k. My RSX-S had a better sounding engine too. Too bad it was an FWD unsteering civic with no real speed.

to begin with evo was never a thought in my mind. what started it was a buddy of mine had an sti, and i have this weird fettish with driving peoples cars, doesnt matter what it is, i have to drive it. well i drove it all night, and he actually told me to beat on it, i didnt want to cause it wasnt my car, and i did. AMAZING i tell you, i was hooked by awd turbo. i realized that there were a lot of people around the area that had sti's, and i dont like having what everyone else does. so i figured the evo had to be somewhat compairable. went to a dealer, they told me they wouldnt let me drive one, so i just went out and called someone that was selling one. that was the first time i drove one. even better i thought than the sti, a lot better looking, and the seats were so much more comfortable. i fell in love and it took me 8 months to find the perfect one!
