Rip off??!?!

Guys! I just bought 4 Advans from a member here. They are perfectly fine, thats not the problem. I claled discount tires to see how much it would cost to have them put on and they are telling me 140 dollars!

WTF! 140 dollars?! I was expecting 70-100.

The guy called back and told me they charge more if you have your own tires but he could cut me a deal on the balancing and it would end up being 120 dollars.

Does this sound like a total crock of $hit to you guys? Or am I just ignorant about how much it really costs?

No, that is most tire shops policy... It pays to know a guy in the tire business, that way they don't do this to you. We got 4x Azenis on for $40 mounted and balanced with free valvestems.

We were so pleased we bought an alignment too!

It was Tire Kingdom that hooked us up.

Thanks guys. I'll call them back and say no go.

That is just rediculous.

I just called them to cancel and they ask why. Then he tells me "how about we do it for 100 bucks".

I told him thanks but nope. I guess the search continues :<

Sears charged me $60 mount/balance/valve stems on all 4. Was a lifetime balance too. It was like $5.99 mounting & $8.99 balancing which included valve stems. Only took them 30 minutes.

I do much business with Discount Tire over here. They charge a flat $15 + tax here (per tire of course).

Is "discount tire" the only place you would consider having mount your tires? I had a local independent tire shop do mine... $60 with new valve stems and high speed ballance.

If the can mount and balance them and not scratch the wheels....I would not be afraid of paying $120 or so if the location is convenient.

Speaking of Tire Kingdom, they jacked up the polished lips on my old 18s. It shouldn't cost that much to mount and balance tires.
