Do I need to change anything on a brand new IX if...
Change the ECU or at least get a de-limiter.
JDM are limited to 180km/h or about 110mph. It will acutally go past that but will cut quite urgently at around 116mph. You don't want to be overtaking, accelerating hard just to find the thing cuts out on you.
Telling them it's a Lancer might not work. Customs have pretty good detials on cars they import. I know it won't work here.
Whatever the hassel, it will be worth it.

thanks a lot guys.. I was a bit worried about oil change and stuff. I guess I don't need it now as cars sit idle in showrooms for a year or so. Will change oil after 600 miles(?). Only problem is how do I get over the 180 km/h speed limit that JDM models come with? These cars hit 200 km/h (124 mph) then cuts fuel abruptly. I already have the '04 evo 8 WW. (gonna sell it)
The customs got clever since I brought my evo 8. Now they look at the Japanese Yellow book for price. So, I am having to pay higher duty.

I would like to know what you end up having to pay!! I know I paid a lot for mine (Thailand, legendary for import duty).
Anyway, hassle free ways (either one or the other, not any combination!!!) to get rid of the speed limit on a jdm:
-Get a Ralliart ECU (from Japan, do tell them it's a IX). This is expensive but it's worth it. You get performance gain, absolute compatibility (plugs right in), no speed limit and you don't have to send away your old ecu.
-Get an HKS SLD (Speed limite defencer) I don't know if defencer is a word but this involves a little wiring and you'll have to find out which type you need. This will just remove the speed limit.
-Most Japanse tuners will do an ECU that plugs straight in. Try Tomei, Mine's, etc. but you might have to send off your old one. I don't think they will be able to tune to 90RON, I don't think you get that i Japan!!
-Get any other ECU. I left this till last cos I don't think you're going to find anyone who will tune a Motec for you in Bangladesh. I'm not dissing your country, it's a similar situation here. Plus you probably don't want to re-do all your wiring in a brand new car.

For the sake of comparison:
Evo9/Sti : 92,500USD
DC5 : 65,000USD
Prices in Thailand.
And import duty for 'parts for motorvehicles' : 60%, based on the CIF value (i.e. INCLUDES shipping) and there's a 7.5% VAT on top.
You may wonder if anyone actually import things legally into this country.

Ralliart and other ecu won't do, coz they are more aggressively tuned, i think. The stock ECU, although tuned for the 100 ron they have in Japan, may have a conservative fuel mapping for the $hitty fuel we have here. My only option is, i think, is to get the SLD. I hope I can get it plugged in here, as there are no tuner/mechanic for this sort of car.
For the Evo 9, i am having to pay around USD 85,000.

I had a bad experience with my Sti when the one I got was a dud. In itself this wasn't bad, but I had to go out and do 120mph, find out it cuts out, come back and check all the wires, do 120mph again and so forth. Had to do it about 5 times will we decided that it was a dud.
Actually, you might want to find out if you can get the ECU from the US. I think they are not limited.
No, to answer your question a dealership would not change the oil even if it were sitting their for six months,
Yes, i would change the oil before driving to long.
Anybody no a site or where i can get that back bumper for my evo viii and how much does it cost. Thanks for the info.
