So my salesman told me Premium isn't needed in the Evo

I went to show my mom the IX i've been looking at, mostly cause I just wanted to see it again , anyways, my mom is like "so this needs premium?", and I hear my salesman go "Not really, you can put in whatever you want it's not really needed" or something like that, basicly saying premium isn't required, just suggested.

I was like, wtf? Won't that hurt the engine?....

Also, they have a MR listed at 40,800, when the IX i'm looking at is 31,800. He first said "we just got an MR in if you're interested in that" and I was like "It's about 5 grand more than the IX, no thanks", to which he replied, "Actually 10 grand"

Wow....

Evidently he bumped his head, real hard.

Buy the car and use 87 and wait for your engine to take a dump. Then take it back to him and see if he honors the warranty.

Either he's really an idiot, or he was flat lying to your mom since he knew she was paying for it. My guess is that he was lying to try to seal the deal.

that salesman should not be talking about the car.. the owners manual says the car should run on 98 octane.. and gives you ways of mixing fuel to get there if 98 isnt avai.

Yeah def hit his head. The sad thing is that some people that don't know any better actually buy the car and think that. I believe there is a story about a guy with an MR thinking that they did not need to good stuff and put 87 in it all the time. Some people should not have these cars.

If that salesperson worked at my dealership, I would fire him on the spot! Moron!

See it is the salepeople like this idiot that make the rest of our jobs a living nightmare!

BTW: ASK me if you want to pay MSRP for an MR! LOL not $40,800 ( this guy should have pulled out the crack pipe and let you and mom hit it)

Best regards,

I don't know. Usually when the manual says to use a certain fuel, oil etc. I tend to go by that.

And the sales guy does deserve a flaming. Matter of fact he should get fired.

Best regards,

I don't want an MR, and they're giving me MSRP for the IX, I didn't even price haggle with them yet, is that good? It says the price on the window so why would anyone pay more heh...I'm gonna try to get them to nock it down a bit more if I can, anything helps =]

And no my mom isn't buying the car, just for some reason she has a say in it. My parents are putting my jeep down (not a trade in unless they give me what I want, which won't happen) and i'm playing the difference/payments

Can you decipher this for me, or at least re-state it so that it's comprehensible?

Lower octane gas does not provide enough knock resistance, so if you run 87 or 89 octane, and go boosting around at 19-20psi, you will melt a piston.

there is no need to explain.. this is a high performance car, with high boost pressures..
